Problems coming onto the site

Has anyone had any problems getting onto the site over the last few days.

I tried to access the site yesterday and it took forever and some pages wouldn't load. The same has been happening today and now is the only time I've been able to get onto the forum.

Whatever pages I've been able to view have taken forever to load.

What's wrong?

    Yeah, I've had problems too, mate. Either it's a server problem or a suicide DoS attack by C64 fundamentalists.

    I can just about get on now, but it's still very sluggish.

    Yup, problems for me too. Couldn't get on at all yesterday, and even now I have to click on a link two or three times before it works.

    Yes, something is wrong with the connection.

    I made several unsuccessful trials before I could see the WoS home page. And problems continued while browsing forums ? pages are not loading completely, some buttons or icons are missing.

    Phew! It's not just me then. This connection has been drving me mad all morning - it's a miracle I was able to post this! Ah well, I suppose I'd better do some work instead, then...

    Something must be wrong somewhere.

    It takes an eternity to load pages on my PC.

    Am I really on a Speccy enthusiasts website, reading posts complaining of slow loading times? Think of it as retro-realism ;)

    But it is slow :(

    Interestingly the ftp server is okay which runs from same IP address:

    lftp ftp.worldofspectrum.org:/pub/sinclair> get ls-lR
    7684837 bytes transferred in 21 seconds (350.4K/s)


    Well..only 350kBytes/sec (o;
    Also SMTP react quickly on same IP.

    So seems to be HTTP fugged up....

    I also notice that there's been nothing in the "What's New?" section for more than a week. Maybe Martijn's on holiday, or off sick, and is unaware of the problems?

    Martijn went on holiday on the 7th. How long is it since the last malfunction in his holidays? Probably a few years.
