Cover for Homebrew

edited February 2010 in Games
Well, I've been having a bit of trouble getting my head round this cover. I've had several cracks at it but I'm not really happy with any of them. My last attempt was..
hbtest3.jpg

Hmm, not too good.

Then it hits me, aha, I know, I want BEER AND GIRLS!!! Idealy something like this...
hbtest1.jpg
or maybe this...
hbtest2.jpg
but of course, those images are copyright, so I can't use 'em.

Anyone got any ideas? If the worst comes to the worst, I'll ask the camera-club crowd!

Or maybe photo your missus with a pint for the cover!!!!! I'll use the best one. :)

Lose the female from the pic, you were on the right track with the first cover.

You do want girls to play the game, right? (What? All one of them? -Ed)

If you want a girl holding a bottle of beer, copyright free, I could sort that out for you.

haha, the first cover is quite funny, I would vote for it!

I would use the style of the game, that is the style of the old Boots homebrew kits. A quick search unfortunately has not yielded any pictures of the old homebrew kits.

Seeing as a couple of peeps actually like the first piccy, I may try for a combination of the two - girl and beer, plus a bit of fruity-fermenting comedy. If you can rustle-up a girl-grog piccy, that'd be ace! Then I can tinker a bit more. :)

Keeping my options open though :)

    Thanks for replys

Just step out on the street with a couple of bottles and offer them to some chavs for free if you can take their photo.

I Like the middle one best. The top one is a bit "busy" and the text has a bit of an amateurish look, whilst the bottom one looks just a bit too contemporary ;).

Here's a picture that inspired the menu screen that I did of CodenameV

or are you thinking something like this

    john_bull_lager.jpg

or how about an old barrel with one of the enemies (the bee/wasp?) draped over it, drunk holding a beer with bubbles and *hic* over it's head?

I tried something similar for my very first cover, but I didn't like it. Could try again I suppose, but I'm saving the bee for Beekeeper now, so it'd have to be one of the other nasties.

You could have a barrel with cartoony eyes, arms and legs running after similarly anthropomorphic fruit characters. Maybe he's carrying a demi-john under his arm to put them in?

Wilko sell homebrew equipment (I have a batch of their bitter fermenting away in the kitchen even as I type), so you might find some inspiration there.

It's alright Mr. Rollings disposed of the worst one, for those who didn't happen to see it count yourselves lucky!

I unfortunately am now mentally scarred and will be taking legal action ;)

    I saw #3 too.

Can we do a group action? (lawsuit, not with the girl).

EDIT: Excellent bloom shading on girl #2 though. And I probably would, she looks dirty.

I thought I had struck gold with that last one, too.
    And it wasn't the worst.
  • edited February 2010
Yes, the 3rd picture was removed so that I could use it as the final cover. YUM!

This is a terrific idea, actually; not least because it brings to mind the old Ultimate titles that Homebrew reminds me of.

Okay, it's decided then. Thanks for the suggestions and for the photo offers, but I am now starting a new hand drawn cutie-cover based on the aforementioned ideas. Here we goooooooooooo!

yeh something along the lines of cookie and pssst would work if you're going for the Ultimate vibe.

I still don't know if the Ultimate styleee was intentional or not!! Cool to be compared tho'.

(pssst Graz can I have a sneak preview when you've done, don't tell anyone!!-ta)
