No celebrities in my family as such, but my dad is somewhat of a local legend in the region of Spain he's from. He made a couple of Spanish folk albums with one of his mates in the late 80s (unsigned, "released" independantly... in fact, I remember me and his mate's kids all sitting round putting the tape covers together ourselves). They were in the newspapers over there a few times, and even got invited onto a radio chat show on Radio Galega.

    Charles Peace

Charles Peace (14 May 1832 – 25 February 1879) was a notorious English burglar and murderer from Sheffield,

My great uncle used to train regularly with Roger Banister, and only missed out on the Olympics because he could not afford to go. In those days you had to pay for yourselves. He was at Oxford's Iffley road running track when the four minute mile was broken. He came rushing home to my grand mother to tell them of the incredible feet he'd just seen, and they were like 'Yes thats nice dear', as they didn't really understand what an achievement it was. He continued to work and coach at that running track for the rest of his life. He is a legend known to many old athletes of Oxford.

not really, a great-uncle was a speedway rider, and would've been well known to the racer goers, that's about it I think, oh and way back in the olden days a few country squire types, not quite landed gentry, no titles or anything.

Not really famous, but my kids did some work as child actors, and some of my ancestors were Portuguese Navigators, but not famous enough no appear in story books. I found about them when I started working on my family tree 4 years ago.

Here's a TV ad one of my kids did for K-Mart:

And here's another one. You can see both of my kids getting a haircut:

Oh, there's someone else. My grandmother says the current President of Portugal is a distant cousin (she's been saying ever since I was a little kid and he was almost unknown) but I don't have the resources to find out.

My niece plays Amy Barlow in Coronation street. Well she did up until last month, but I don't think her last scenes have been screened yet.

My grandad's brother was married to the sister of Lloyd Bridges' wife, technically making Beau and Jeff Bridges distant relatives of mine :)

No one famous in my direct family, but my brother-in-law's family are well connected! His mother is the sister of Richard and David Attenborough, his dad is an equerry to the Queen and has been on telly a fair bit in past years, and his grand-parents co-founded Hodder & Stoughton publishers.

My sister also appeared on BBC telly, which some of you may have seen years ago (it must have been early 1990s) - she was dressed in a Spot The Dog cstume and presented a big cheque from WH Smith to Dame Edna Everage for Red Nose Day (or some similar event). The funny thing was, when she read out the value of the cheque on live telly she got confused with the 6's and the 9's, as she was looking down at as she held it in front of her, so she read the 6's and 9's the wrong way around. Can't recall the exact total (although we've got it on video to embarrass her at family events) but if the value was ?1,960,000 she read it as ?1,690,000 and it sounded like she'd pocketed the difference!
