Spanish Game = Invasion of the Zombie Monsters

edited March 2010 in Games
Has anyone else seen this nice little Spanish game -

http://www.matranet.net/shockware/zombie/index.html

It is still available commercially but would be nice to give it a wider audience

I looked at it because it was on the WOS What's New page a couple of days ago, but at 14.95 EUR it is out of my budget I'm afraid.

The game was presented at the last Retromadrid, one week ago, an it was quite well sold and popular. I have a copy an I have to tell that the game is pretty good, although a little easy in my opinion. A bit of Ghosts an Goblins meets Wonderboy :)

I have sent the loading screen and in-game screen of the game today so Martijn can update the entry of it, and it can be somwhow visible.

    Cheers

The pound and euro are practically at a parity these days so it's about fifteen quid! It'd better be good for that kind of price...

Was there not a "Collectors edition" for ? 99,-?

    Looks good.

Is there a video of Spectrum version? this Msx version in link is impressive, but I guess that Spetrum version is inferior.

And it's a genre that we don't see often these days: scrolling levels packed with action.

I found and put these videos in 'youtube dump', chit chat section, some days ago: Incoming footage and the teaser trailer, here you have them again:

Quoting an email reply I got about buying the game.

'At this moment, the game is not available through Bitwise yet, but it will be (hopefully!) very soon. Matra is busy assembling a package for us. As soon as it is in (or as soon as I know more details), I will let you know.'

The game comes inside a big carton box, printed professionally (offset), with a text printed black cassette with the game, an 8 pages manual and a MiniCD containing a TZX to play with emulators, a WAV file with the game sound in case you need to replace the cassette and extras such as the game OST (from Gominolas, composer of classics such as Mad Mix Game or Silent Shadow). If you want I can post some photos for all of you to see the physical version and all its contents.

Perhaps for Halloween, bundled with a zombie costume or something :-P

Regards and sorry for the spanglish! ;-)

I would love to offer this for sale too if the author would like to come to some agreement....

Pictures of everything in the package would be a help as it now seems worth the price!

Arrgh ! Not being tight, i just want the emulator image. Sounds a nice package but i have no use for the casette, manual, mini cd or wav file.

15 euros just for an emulator image is quite a lot. I dont want to go the 'pirate' way, see i'm trying to be legal and legit !

5 euros for just the emulator image would be good ?

    When?: NOW
How?: our producers are Matra Computer Automations. At their website www.matranet.net you'll find a button for Invasion of the Zombie Monsters. There you'll find an email for your order. I recommend the option "spain and worldwide" as I don't know right now if Bitwise already have copies to serve or not.

Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding :(.

Well, eventually we will release the game for everyone to download it at our website (on a couple of months or so). Also, you will be able to download it from the WoS too.

It is just that we want to give those users whose get the physical version some extra time to have the game "exclusively" before we release the game in the internet. As you can check, all our game releases (except this game), are available to download at our website www.relevovideogames.com and at the WoS. So it will be a matter of time for you to be able to download the game for free ;-)
I dont want to go the 'pirate' way, see i'm trying to be legal and legit !

I really see your point. As I've said, if you don't want the physical package, please be patient, as the game will be soon available for its download as a plain TZX image :-)

For that matter, contact Matra, our producers, to see if you can get a deal, as we at RELEVO Videogames are the game developers but not the producers/distributors of the game packs.

    This is what Bitwise replied.

I never got a reply from the spain and worldwide email address.

No worries, i'll be patient but i'm like a spoilt kid at Xmas waiting for my Speccy games ;) Its difficult !

The game looks superb, really hope there'll be more in the future. Perhaps after people have the 'exclusive tape offer' you should have an 'exclusive emulator image'. I buy a lot of emulator images from Cronosoft and would love to buy this image at some point.

Well done to all involved , looks a great game

While we're at it, can I make a general request to everyone that TAP files are also included (or at the least, TZX files using only the ROM loader) so people can play on real hardware via mass storage devices that support loading TAP files. Just a request :-)

TZX files generally can't be supported on real hardware unless they only use the standard loader, and if it uses the standard loader only, TAP files are a lot less convoluted.

As someone who worked for a board games company, I appreciate a good bit of packaging (sounds weird but it's true). And I love the pics you've posted; 15 quid just sounded a lot cheaper lol. I'll be watching this, waiting for folk's comments.

Nice box set. What surprises me is that there are still companies who produce recording cassettes in a industrial way, nobody uses cassettes players nowadays!

On the other hand, I love the 'hype' of modern Spectrum games: own web page, teaser trailer in YouTube, made in a film-style... do you imagine if Youtube had existed in the good old days, including teaser trailers of Atic Atac, Knight Lore, Skool Daze, D.T. Decathlon...?

As far as I know from them, they received your email, in which you did not specified your desired version (MSX or Spectrum), so they send to you a mail in return, asking for you to please precise the order. So, please recheck your inbox! (or spam-folder ;))

That's very generous and I look forward to being able to play it, thank you.

I'm with psj in that I don't need the physical product, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate a good new Speccy game!

The packaging does look fantastic though!

I dont suppose you could convert some of those other MSX games ?!? ;)

Deep Dungeon Adventure looks superb !

As for the game i'm like a 12 year old at Xmas, love the look of it. I've emailed them asking for a paypal address, happy to pay 15 euros for the game and forget the packaging (They'll save themselves money as well).

Always keen to pay for any new games, more the merrier ! Hope they convert more of their MSX games

Well, in my humble opinion almost all ZX games from the region looked incredibly good.
    Like this one do.
However most of regular divIDE users cannot load TZX but TAPs only.
People tend to forget about it.

Anyways. The YouTube video looks great.
