had a bash at this last night and managed to complete it cheating with snapshots, thought it was definitely the most enjoyable JSW clone I've played yet. tried about 20 so far. the rooms where massive things appear from nowhere and start chasing you are fun. nice work from mr.BoozeFreek on this one!

I reviewed this along with a few of other boozy's clones for the SPectrum bible and this was one of the one's I enjoyed most too. Funnily enough, he doesn't think much of it!

DM's games (and many other JSW/MM rewrites) don't seem to get nearly as much publicity as they should. One of the best things about his games is how you often get a surreal screen or group of screens that really do convey a feeling of wonder in the game that you thought had died off since the 1980s. A couple of weeks back I was playing one where you go into Monty Mole land, with the sort of atmosphere that most post late-80's platform games have long since lost. DM really does have a great imagination and a real skill with the JSW editor. He also comes from the crap side of the country (had to insult him, or he'd think that I liked him ).

I can't tell you which game of his I was playing, though, as I just loaded it up at random to pass time when on the train - I would have snapshotted it at vital points, and continued later, but the PSP's battery was near dead (I often forget to recharge it, and wow do the train rides seem long and boring then - anyone who thinks that the Spectrum and it's games belong in the past should try the same long journey twice - once with and once without a Spectrum emulator and games, they'll soon learn the value of Speccy gaming).

I'll be on that same train, on my way to work in a few hours, and I'll probably boot up a JSW rewrite to pass the time, although I'm currently medically addicted to Batteries Not Precluded and Think!.

Well I think I've pretty much resigned now anyway, I'm thinking of just finishing off all the ones I've started over the years but not finished then calling it a day.

Seriously? I hope not, maybe you should just take a break for a few months, and recharge the mental batteries.

Play some modern games, realise how unenjoyable many of them are, and you'll be rushing back to JSW very soon indeed!

shame, although there's about a dozen of your remakes in the archive - I suppose at the end of the day you probably have to ask yourself: how far can willy be stretched?:-o

Hmmm... Come to think of it, maybe the one you mean is just Dizzy with some sneaky adjustments, and the one I mean is just Wanted: Monty Mole with a few rascally alterations?

Now we know - DM Boozefreak is Harry S. Price!

Blimey! I no sooner entered my post than you posted your reply!

I know that people on this forum await with baited breath my words of wisdom, but you could try to seem a little more casual about it! It's embarrassing, knowing that my literary genius is so much in demand

Well usually I just reply to your posts if I'm bored, but I figured I'd be nice this time :D

I had a little go of this last night too. Definitely the best JSW clone I've played - it has great atmosphere and humour. It is a tricky little bugger but I loved every moment of it.

It's one of Boozy's easier JSW games! trust me!
