the horse race season has now officially started in york, we live quite close to the track. so most nights walking home from work i have to avoid large groups of absolutly pissed up middled ages men and they equally drunk wives/mistresses. i must say, i think they are worse than anything i have seen when there is a big football game on. they are always being sick or pissing in the street, which looks quite depressing when they are all wearing their fancy suits. there is quite a big police prescence but still kids are about having to look at this sort of behaviour.
last night at about midnight some piss head was walking down our street banging on all the windows screaming for people to come out. i would have happily gone out and put a screwdriver into him, but i know id be the one going to prison.
it is funny though that the pictures you see on the news about horse racing events are always of women dressed in fancy frock, but they dont show them pissing in bushes or throwing chips at passing cars.
i prefered living in hudds, cos with the local scallies, you knew that if you got into a fight with one of them they prolly wouldn't go running to the cops as they'd prolly have a pocket full of pills.
i dont except the 'well that what drink does to people' argument. the two retro events i went to had copious amounts of early drinking, and there wasn't any fights or grief.
