Please help me name these two games...

edited May 2010 in Games
Game 1:
It was a sideways scrolling game where you controlled a tank and a helicopter. The tank killed stuff and the helicopter carried ammo and fuel and repaired bridges. Not silkworm. I thought it was called something like Command HQ.

Game 2:
It was an indiana jones style trading game set somewhere like the amazon. You played multiplayer and had to hinder other players progress by destroying bridges or boobie trapping stuff.

Any ideas?

    Game 1 sounds familiar.

    but

    Game 2 reminds me of...

Spy Vs Spy II - Island Caper - http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0004788

I thought Game 1 was Silkworm... until you said not Silkworm. :D

If Game 2 isn't Spy vs Spy II (the only thing that doesn't fit is destroying bridges) then I'd like to know what it is, as it sounds cool!

Oh, and welcome to the forums Yeodave!

    Thanks for welcome

Game 1: I'm sure game one was had the words "battle", "tank", "command" or "HQ" in the title. It was available on C64 as well as it had a funky loading game of space invaders on the Commadore.

Game 2: The sabotage game was a turn based strategy trading game but it was more like you cut the rope bridge so your rival has to go the long way round but after 3 turns the bridge was repaired. It was basically played over a static map of an island, like a board game.

Cool, didn't know they made a spy vs sry II! Gonna check that one out.

    Any more guesses?

Looking at the WoS links, it was never reviewed by SU. No wonder I've never heard of it!

Any idea what Game 2 is please? I know you could move around the map in a jeep or by plane I think.

    It's driving me crazy.

the c64 version was really nice.. (I'd long left speccy) BUT I'll remember it for the title tune always

maniacs of noise.. nuff said :)

game 2... was the plane / jeep view just a map.. OR did you have to do something on it? when you said that.. I thought of stuff like Jackal / fernandez must die / SWIV

but you did say trading.. so thought of things like taipan.. and jungle (big up all the massive ;) ) , I thought of stuff like Platoon or Flash Gordon

Are you sure that the second one was a Spectrum game? I can't come up with any resource management/trading games that seem likely. A couple of games that have a similar setting are Tusker and Into Africa, but the details don't match up.

They made 'Spy Vs Spy 3 - Artic Antics' as well - that was pretty good too.

Pretty sure. I only had a Speccy 128k and a Commodore 16 before that.

I don't think the game involved any resource management. It was just travel around this South America / Africa location on a map, buying stuff and selling it elsewhere while trying to slow your opponent down by hindering them.
