What's happening with you in multi-player is exactly the thing that the update is meant to have fixed...but they're still working on a new patch. I signed into multi yesterday with no problems at all for the duration, so it is worth keeping trying though...
And for social Club, I think it has to be the one linked to Xbox Live, so as it can read your stats....
I installed the patch when I first loaded it up. I never got around to trying it again yesterday. If it's a server problem, then I'll give it a day or two before I try again.
I'll check that my Xbox Live e-mail is still active before I try joining the club (is it worth it?)
You say that, but MadWorld, one of my fave games on the Wii is full of glitches as well. I was stuck on one of the boss fights for a while because I was actually getting trapped inside of scenery during the fight.
That's the only game that I've had problems with too. I find that it freezes more than anything else. I've not had any problems like the ones in that video.
Back to RDR. I've been having some fun with this game. Unusually for me, I've actually been completing story missions plus, completing the odd side quest. I normally just mess about with this kind of game. I like to look for hidden things (I've done alot of flower picking in this game  ) and just generally explore the game area.
I did find what i thought was going to be a side mission, but after sitting and talking to the guy, nothing really happened! He was a city guy in a train station and said he was looking for adventure....guns etc. He was rather camp too. I can't remember is name or anything, but has anybody else met him?
I may have found a bug too, or mabey not. I finally found Theives Landing and headed strait for the talors (I can buy the poker suit), but even though it's there and open, There is no shop keeper. But that could just be that I need to complete something before he's there? Not sure yet!
Other than that, I've had a few problems with hog-tieing people as that seems a little hit and miss at times and the auto aim sucks too! Still, I'm looking forward to getting back into it tonight.
I really hope there's a Blazing Saddles type town in the game somewhere. One with inbred racist types and a black sherif running rings around them and making them look like idiots! Plu, I'd love to find a "Mongo" character in the game somewhere too. A big guy who rides a bull. That'll be fun
are you even playing the single player? sounds like you are playing the multiplayer all the time.
I have been playing single player...(apparently for over 2 whole actual days, in fact)...I've only played about 4 hours of multi-player.....Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can't be far off though..
I have noticed that a lot of the side missions repeat themselves quite a bit....I've now helped a certain shopkeeper by the name of Herbert Moon about 5 times, for instance...But I am still finding new ones too!
I'll check that my Xbox Live e-mail is still active before I try joining the club (is it worth it?)

You get a few cheats, and access to some challenges and stuff with Social Club, and you can check and see what people on your friends list have been up to in the game as well...is it worth it? Depends on what other challenges they unlock later...
The missing Tailor sounds like he might just have got spooked by something and run off. That happened to me with the General Store guy... He should be there all the time through the day, though...
I've had a couple of problems with hog-tying people too...it sometimes doesn't work if you're not standing in the right place....
I have noticed that a lot of the side missions repeat themselves quite a bit....I've now helped a certain shopkeeper by the name of Herbert Moon about 5 times, for instance...But I am still finding new ones too!
Same with bounties too... I've caught a couple of them twice. Maybe they keep escaping from prison, I should just shoot them in future.
I've just joined Rockstar Social Club. It unlocked the "Gentleman's Outfit", which apparently lets you play high stakes poker games in Blackwater, not that I've made it that far yet.

Isn't that the "Funny Man" strangers mission? It sounds very similar to one I started and is listed in my journal. Check the Strangers section of the journal to see if you have the Funny Man mission.
As to what you do next on that mission, I don't know. From the mission description in the journal I think you'll encounter him again at some point, as he says he's "travelling around to observe life on the last frontier."

That was the first thing that I did, but nothing is there. Your right though, it was that guy as I remember it's title now. I'll have a look alter on and see if he's back.
Just been playing it some more, and I think I've procrastinated almost as much as I possibly can... can't do anymore hunting, sharpshooter, treasure hunting or survivalist challenges until I venture south. Just need to do a couple of bits for the outfits up north, and then it's time to get on and do some missions.
*Finally* sussed out the auto-aim too, you have to point the camera in the direction of what/who you wanna shoot, then hold the left trigger, and it locks straight onto them.
yeah a lot of the side missions start with you just meeting a guy then turn into something bigger later on, they are like the random encounters in GTA4.
i noticed an odd thing the other day, i was walking about when i saw this bloke laying a pool of blood, and a woman next to him crying and drinking from a bottle, it didn't let me interact, and when i came back later she was dead. :-P
can anyone be arsed with the newspaper? i dont like the way it only lets you view it on half the screen.

Yeah, I saw the same thing... she cried, then took her fella's gun and shot herself in the head. I know it's not much, but it's little touches like that that are making it so enjoyable for me so far, especially seeing as I haven't done many actual missions.
I got one newspaper, but because I've just been doing side missions, another paper hasn't come out yet (they're like the news reports in GTA basically, they are updated as you complete more main missions). There was an article in mine about Tumbleweed being haunted, and a few of the dudes sitting at the campfires have mentioned it too... I wonder if there's ghosts there at a certain time or day of the week, that'd be pretty cool.

lol, i never saw her do that, i was trying to find a flower.
yeah there are plenty of great touches, that was the problem with gun, you never really got anything like that.
yeah id love a ghost, those camps are pretty boring, but i like the canibal stuff, very 'fallout 3'
oh and let me know if it happens to you in mexico but something very odd happened to me. i wont give it away, but you'll go 'wtf!!'
not sure if it was supposed to happen, or if it is a random thing

I tried putting the cannibal on the railway tracks like I did that rustler fella, but it wouldn't let me do it for some reason. So I dragged him onto the track with the lasso, but then he just died. No fun at all!!
Hehehe sweet, I'm gonna have another go in a minute, and it's just main missions until I get down south, so I reckon I'll be there soon.

im at 40% completion with only two missions done in the south. im itching to get into the plains so i can hunt a bear.
i will have to start looking at these outfits, its something i haven't done.
tip -buy a property in the south for a treat. its not something ive done much up north, i need to go back up there tonight, there is a place i haven't discovered yet. i will buy up all the properties to see if anything happens.
i do enjoy these games where you have loads to do other than the main quest.
also has anyone noticed any in jokes about the GTA games? i might check out the graveyards more see if i can spot any names.
I'll check that my Xbox Live e-mail is still active before I try joining the club (is it worth it?)
Actually, I just remembered something! It is worth it! If you unlock the "Red Dead Rockstar"
achievement, and are a member of Social Club, then you automatically get entered into a competition to get your face on a multi-player character in future DLC.....:D
I'm currently sitting at about 55.6% done, and have played through quite a few missions in Mexico....and met a fair few strange characters...
I just worked out that I didn't have auto-aim on, as my aiming was set to normal and not casual....What a difference that makes. It's almost too easy!! Could have done with it when I was trying to do one of the Gang Hideouts....took me 6 attempts to beat it...

My aiming is set to normal too, but it still auto-aims... you just have to have the camera facing what it is you're trying to shoot.

I've bought a few properties up north. Didn't really need them, but I've got stinkloads of cash form all the bounties I've collected, so I thought what the heck. The campsite is all you need really though... handy thing, that.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to hunting the bigger animals, eg mountain lions and grizzly bears. Rabbits, skunks, coyotes, raccoons don't present much of a challenge :-).
I managed to unlock the Deadly Assassin outfit last night, it doubles the speed at which your Dead Eye meter refills. Plus Marston looks pretty cool in it, with eye patch and all.
I also thought I'd look at the multiplayer, but I had no luck with that. I got disconected from my first session due to "connection dificulties with other players connections" and then I waited 10 minutes for another conection, but gave up. Another one for tommorow I think!
I had this although it was an easy fix. Most likely your NAT type is strict.
I added the following port forwarding entries to my router...
88, 3074
Associate both of these with your XBOX IP address and you're set. :)
I'll check that my Xbox Live e-mail is still active before I try joining the club (is it worth it?)
You also get the "Gentleman's Attire" outfit for signing up to the Rockstar Social Club, which allows you to play in the high-stakes poker games in Blackwater apparently.
Plus you also get extra challenges like the Pike's Basin Challenge, see here:
Plus there's other stuff detailed on the above link, including:
The Blackwater Ledger – A special and dynamic Red Dead Redemption community edition of the in-game newspaper keeping community members apprised of all the latest goings on across the game world – from New Austin to Nuevo Paraiso to West Elizabeth. The newspaper will report daily news from the frontier including who’s earned the highest bounties, a business column on what products are most purchased from local merchants, and a blotter of which weapons are being used the most. Registered members will see a snapshot report of their own latest status of Honor and Fame, as well as Experience, Rank, Game Progress and more.
I'll probably sign up later then as my XboxLive e-mail is still active.
I'm still enjoying the sights and the side quests. Some of the 'Stranger' tasks have been very funny. The look on you characters face after collecting the bunch of flowers for the fella to give to his wife is excelent and I love the way he reacts to the generally weird people he meets (Anyone taken the guy in the top left of the map's 'girlfriend' back to him yet?).
Having said that, the one thing that I really don't like about this game is that when you die, you loose everything. This was very anoying last night as I'd spent nearly an hour searching for the flowers for the stranger task, only to get attacked by a wolf and shot at the same time by people I didn't even see. I ended up half way accross the map and I'd lost an hours worth of flowers and skins etc.
I heard there was an achivement for dragging someone through a town behind a horse. I did this last night, but didn't get it. Is there one?

Yeah, I always try and save fairly regularly when out in the wilderness by setting up camp. But sometimes I forget and lose a bit of progress if I get killed.
@deadpan666 - LOL@ those videos. Do you reckon those particular things are glitches as such, or did the programmers put them in there deliberately to find as Easter Eggs? I reckon the latter; in the one with the people flying they are flapping their arms. Seems more intentional rather than a glitch.

They do seem a bit too odd to happen by accident....but if they are a secret, how the heck do I find them!?!?!?
i really don't think those glitches are easter eggs. :)
what i have learned from the little bot of 3d programing i have done is that those things can easily happen if the code gets screwed up.
for instance the all the characters moving are basically a similar type object but give a different appearance and set of rules to follow.
so your more likley to see the woman in replacing donkey rather than a woman replacing a building.
as for the flying man, it looks like the gravity in the physics engine has gone wrong, his arms would be bound by the same gravity hence them looking like they are flaping. ;)
its not hard to see that sort of thing failing with the main character, usually in a tight corner you will see him float out of it.
basically this game is throwing a massive amount of data around, so this sort of thing will happen.
Yeah, I've always had that problem with the GTA maps too, so I just leave the bloody things alone now!!
I take it the "shoot five bears with one shot each" challenge is gonna be a tough one then?
nah shouldn't be too hard, i took one down but it was point blank range in the head with a shotgun. the next time i tried it, it killed me. i think it might be one to try later when i get a more poweful rifle, i'd rather do them from a distance. :)
On the subject of hunting, I've been having real trouble finding boars and armadillos. I've managed to find (and kill) a couple of armadillos near, well, Armadillo actually. I think I've seen only one boar (somewhere north of MacFarlane's Ranch, if I remember correctly).
