Yeah, I was bit gutted to find that Marston can't swim. You would've thought they'd have that in there, seeing as you could swim in GTA IV.
it looks like it was there to stop you going to other areas, but i'd have prefered an invisable barrier.
well i did my 3 bear challenge as the bears come in 3's at you. its a massive pain really as the appear quite regular. ive killed about 20 no wonder they are endangered.
well, I joined the Rockstar club thingy and am just having a loo at the web site. The stat's on my game save say that I've completed 30.3% but the stats online are showing 28.8%
I've still not tried multiplayer yet, but I'll give it a try again tomorow as i'm off out tonight :D
I've not tried the multiplayer yet, but that sounds good... looks like it could be a good laugh with a few of you all at it.
I hear the free mode is now a kinda lobby for the other modes, or something?
yeah thats right, i started off as a fat bloke with a pistol and a donkey, i could walk to a gang hidout and do a mission, like the ones that happen in game, and there are various other things to do in town.
the other players are all spread out doing their own thing. you can get xp by killing NPC's or completing challenges like the challenges in the game.
be warned though all areas are unlocked, just in case you want to see them in game first.
ive not explored much but i think you send out an invite to the other players if you want a gang war.
i only did the pike basin challenge. half way through another character joined in and we did it together.
we should all defo join together into a posse to wipe all the other players out. :)

Yeah, that's the main reason I wanna play the single player mode first (or at least until I've unlocked all the areas), I figured it'd all be unlocked.
Sounds great though, I didn't realise there'd actually be stuff to do on your own too. Any idea of the max number of people in your posse? It'd be great if we got everyone from this thread into one gang.

i think its 20 people in the world so 20 people. i mean you might at well do that private, but no xp i think.
but 3 or 4 of us would be cool, we could go riding through town shooting up the place, or go into the bar and shoot up the place or go to the brothel..well you get the idea.
but probably due to most of us not using mics, we'd prolly end up walking around in circles looking at each other. :)
but yeah it'd be superb, you can have wagons, so one to drive the other on shotgun, and a couple on horses. yeeee haaaaaa

Excellent... once I've opened all the maps, we'll get our posse together and start causing some chaos!! I've just arrived at Mexico. Bought myself a nice little house. Got myself a poncho.
I'm still having problems connecting, despite adding the router stuff suggested by thehive :-(. Managed to connect once but didn't stay connected for that long. Hopefully it'll improve soon. I want to do more of the single player stuff before doing too much online stuff, as I don't want to venture into areas I haven't been in in single-player.

i haven't had any online problems yet.
except everytime i went to change my outfit my xbox crashed, which i suppose is quite serious. :p
ive tried out some of the matches, turns out that i am pretty good at it, which is nice. lol. i think its actually quite balanced for new comers.

I made it to Mexico last night too :D I've brought two houses and am busy getting to know the area before I really start with the story missions.
I really like how Mexico looks alot different from the upper part of the map. It's really not like the GTA games where you spend ages trying to open an area, only for it to look the same as the last part.
I think toninght, I'm going to go hunting for a bit.
Well, having now completed the main story missions, and mucked around enough to have 90% done, I can safely say it's game of the year..even with it's glitches and bugs!
I'm still discovering new side missions, and apparently I've played it for more than 6 actual days, which would suggest that there's only been about 22 hours that I haven't played it since I got it....not sure how that works, as I've been sleeping and going to birthday parties & employment courses and stuff, but it is possible I fitted all that into 20 hours...it's just a bit scary and sad!
I'm definitely up for a WOS Posse...we just have to make sure we take turns to be the leader, so we can all get the achievement for a full squad!
I've played it quite a bit, and it's just as much fun trying to get all the challenges and stuff as it is in the single playergame, with the added bonus of unlocking titles for yourself as well....can be bloody annoying when some kid comes along and starts shooting the crap out of you when you're just trying to pick flowers though!
Now, everybody else hurry up and finish so I can stop holding back speaking about the ending....;)
I managed to get a quick online session in last night and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. It's kind of impressive to think that the whole map is open and players can go whever they want, but I did spawn miles away from everybody on my first session (I quick travelled to the most densly populated area). But, I found that with it being my first time online that everyone was 7 or 8 levels higher than me and I was getting blasted to bits within seconds of spawning.
I did manage to unlock the Red Dead rockstar achievment on my first kill though, so all wasn't lost.

im nearly at the ending.
yehs its a bit annoying when your trying to do the challanges. i keep an eye on my map and when i see one getting close i hide behind a rock and blast him to death.
the free roam is just a portal to the other games so you dont have to stay long if you dont want, and get your xp from the death match games. ;-)

It's frustrating at the start, but it doesn't take long to level up...if you go and do one of the gang hideouts and kill loads o' bad guys, you can go up a couple of levels straight away to begin with! Try and posse up with a couple of higher level guys too, and go do some hideouts or other match types like shootout or hold your own...
If you want peace to go and collect flowers and go hunting and stuff, start a private free roam and you can level up to your heart's content knowing it's just you and the AI....:)
the higher your fame, the lower the bounty you get for comitting crimes.
there is an acievement where you have to get a bounty of $5,000 and pay it off with a pardon letter. its better to do this early rather than late as its hard to get a bounty that high for just riding into town and shooting the place up. you have to keep doing it over and over again.
oh and when the posse comes for you, kill all the lawmen bar one. if you kill them all your bounty goes back down again. (basically youve killed all the witnesses)
Managed to have my first proper online sesh tonight. Like Bermondsey Bob, I was blasted to pieces in the shootout games, and finished last. I noticed that you get XP for killing NPCs, so I went into the wild to a junction of a few dirt tracks and took out quite a few of them as they rode past. I think I'll level up a few times before trying the shootout games again.

its shouldn't make a difference in the PVP games, you are only given the equipment available for that particular game.
its the free roam where you can use the guns you get from your levels. if you want good XP, look in your journal, then challenges like the the first player. they will give you more XP than killing the npcs.
although you need to be a certain level for the PVP games.

You might be advised to stick on easy aim as well...it'll give you an instant lock on players, but your experience will take a hit....once you level up a few times, you can take it off and get back to blasting normally! :)
You might be coming up against people who have the easy aim on, hence the rapidness with which they blast you, so even the odds! And don't worry...once you level up you can join games where the easy aim is unavailable!!
I was playing multi-player last night and some guy turned up and whistled at me to follow him...I followed and he showed me a couple of areas where cougars and bears come charging in waves...If you defeat a certain number, you get a Boss Animal to kill that takes quite a few hits to put down!
This will unlock the Master Hunter level 2 challenges apparently, but I failed to kill any of the bosses before him, so will need to check....I won't give the locations yet, as some folk might want to discover them on their own. But yeah, it keeps delivering new stuff to do!
Yesssssss... finally found some boars, thanks to Daren's tips (I found the five I needed in the swamps to the west of Thieves Landing), so I'm now on the next hunting challenge...
Kill two cougars with my melee knife? Y'what?? That's gonna be a toughie...

do it from your horse back, the hardest thing is the bleeding couger running away.

I managed to do it on foot, got killed a few times, but there are loads around Rio Bravo, so I had lots of goes at it (the last one I killed did try and run away, had to chase the little bugger for ages). Now I'm trying to find foxes (got one more raccoon to find too, but they usually pop up all over the place at night).

they never seem to appear when you want them too though. :p
Did you finish it properly though...have you met the stranger in Blackwater as Jack and followed that mission through to the end??? That's the one that makes the credits roll.....

i found some boars north of mcfarlan ranch. im not keen on that swampy area, too much water.

Yep, kinda like those long straight Tetris blocks that never dropped when you needed them.
that was an ending and a half.
ive only got my sharp shooter level ten to do and the rest of my outfits to get now.
Yeah...crazy ending! ;)
