I don't believe what I'm reading. I just don't believe it.
You look at the games he did, he was a brilliant programmer, and yet really flippant and modest. I remember when I found a Gameboy Color version of Green Beret that had ripped off his code, he was nonchalant upon playing it "It's really weird!!". My kind of guy.
After speaking to him about WOS he said about the " What are you listening to now ? " thread :
" I keep throwing in strange random names for bands and songs to see if anyone is actually reading what other people are listening to ! "
That sums him up very well, things didn`t need to make everyone else laugh, if they amused him, that was enough, however if someone else clocked on to it, that made him even happier. He was not only respected by people, he was loved too.
I still keep expecting him to post that he is really MrHat, and this whole sad saga has been a big joke, sadly that just won`t be happening.
Rest In Peace Big Guy !
Every time I read that the oldest person in the world has died, I have to do a quick check to see it isn't ME..........
Very sad news and although I never really knew him (aside from the great games he created for us to enjoy) I feel like I'm missing a part of my world. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
Maybe you could still do so and send it to his family to show how we at WOS care ... after all, he used to spend an awful lot of time here so the mutual appreciation shows.
Earlier in this thread I thought about getting a list of people here who'd volunteer, I'd go out and buy a big get well soon card, sign it then post it to someone else from here, they'd sign it and so on until everyone on the list had signed it. The last person would send it to the hospital/his home and he'd get a good laugh at it.
I don't think I'd be the right person to start it as I rarely talked to him, but if someone else wants to take the lead and send a sympathy card then I'd definitely sign it. That's if someone here knows and could get it sent to his family (Mr Hat?). It'd be better to start a new thread for that specific purpose so that we'd be able to organise the signing/posting order etc.
Just a thought. It'd probably have to be a huge card :D
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

I thought of a very similar idea a few weeks back but with me being in the USA it would've been quite expensive to pass it round the US Wossers and then forward it to the UK. I did think of using a digital image and emailing it to people. But I'll be honest I took it for granted that he would recover and be back amongst us by now :(
I regret not having done something like that now, I really do :(
Really, I was telling a friend about Frobush, and he asked me if I had looked up Jonathan Smith on Facebook, I said that I hadn`t and that if he had a page on there we would have known about it. Curiosity got the better of me and I tried it, five hits came back, but on seeing the fifth avatar my heart nearly flew out of my mouth. I havn`t tried to look any further myself, but this was crazy. Coincidence, I am sure, but not a nice one..........

I think that would be a lovely thing - and for his family to know how his life affected those of various people around the world. Maybe, in a different thread, people could make a single post about their thoughts, and each one could be printed out and included with a card - with those people who can leaving personal hand-written thoughts?
I'm sitting here stunned, RIP Joffa, you made us all smile with your WoS posts. You will be sorely missed here.
I can't believe it, he was only 44? 45 years old? Gone before his time.
He only turned 43 this year :( He's gone way before his time. :(
I agree with everybody about us putting some kind of tribute together. He was a true one of a kind person. I wish I'd have known him for longer, but I appreciate him taking the time to answer my PMs and emails and he told me he was genuinely touched when I put a 'thank you for all the great games' comment on his Facebook page when I found him on there a while back, he even subscribed to my goddawful Youtube channel.
Will never forget him. Of course, we'll carry on but WoS won't be the same without Frobush :(
It really has upset me, he PM'd me once and signed off as Jof and I said "Whoah, you're not Joffa Smith are you?". Truly one of my childhood heroes and an all round top bloke.
I even bought Cobra! I did pirate Hyper Sports though. He didn't mind 'cos he didn't get royalties anyway!
Every can of cheap American Icehouse beer that I fling down my neck is dedicated to Jof today, raise your glasses people raise your glasses :(
I'm drinking cheap beer in his memory too. Tesco "Biere Speciale" - ?2.89 for eight stubbys!
It's not too bad too.
I think we should also try and have a game of Firefly if we can. It was his favourite of the games he wrote. But not Terra Cresta, since he thought that was bobbins.

I was given a bottle of Jack Daniels as a present last week. I was saving it for Christmas, not any more.
Sitting here playing Cobra. Best move tie in on the spectrum ever.
I think I may crack open my bottle of premium Vodka, that was put aside for a rainy day, today the saying came true " it never rains, but it pours " I am feeling soaked to the skin........still finding it hard to believe.........

I just can't believe it, I'm completely lost for words. RIP Joffa.
As a mark of the respect I think everyone on here had for Jof?
Just a small thought.
RIP Joffa.

Frobush posted on another forum I visit regularly so I've left a message there letting people know what's happened.
