Has anybody seen the new design?.

I looks like they let the facebook raised intern loose with a set of crayons.

I don't mind site face-lifts if they add to the usability of a site but this is just horrendous.

Oh my that's terrible. Why does everybody seem to be ruining their tried and tested website designs these days?

It's a illness called tweakitis, I suffer from it myself, if I can move a block of text over 1 pixel and spend 2 hours doing it then looking at it and saying 'that looks much better' whilst the wife tuts and says she's sure I've got aspergers..... It does look a bit worse that.

I don't mind it - it's different, no better nor worse.

There seems to be too much of a gap between the paragraphs, if you can call them paragraphs.

Looks a bit more dumbed down but i wont lose sleep over it. Sure people werent happy when it changed years ago to the last format.

I don't mind it as it goes, looks quite nice. That said, I've always held up the BBC news site as a paragon of clean, unfussy and effective design. I'm not sure that can be said now. If you want to see a pair of horrors try the www.nme.com and www.mirror.co.uk.
    ugghhh.

everything is dumbed down now... as apparently we all have the attention span of a gnat..

e.g. they put a short news round up at 8pm on bbc..

I saw this story and video while on there...

    My, that's creepy.

On first impressions, I'm not liking it... and I've also had a couple of occasions where it's jumped back to the old style or bits of menu have gone missing.

Quite funny how old some pages look though.

In the past i've clicked on a news story then at the side it has links to the older stories about say a court case. You click on the link from 2004 and you obviously see an older version of the BBC website which looks horrible.

Probably in 5 years time we'll look back at the last site and think how bad it looked ! You know we dont normally like change ;)

Look at the parlarva when the WOS forum changed, plus people were moaning left/right and centre when Retro gamer changed and has avatars on the right not the left etc.

I noticed it this morning, i don't like it. Why change it in the first place? There was nothing wrong with it.

Has it only just gone final? I've been using the "new" BBC frontpage for a couple of months.

They've had a few balls-ups recently with the user editing of the page, but it's not really any different to the previous one.
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

Yuk, it is horrible. I gave it a chance..but this new layout just seems - messy.

On the subject..I've hated on the site for a long time now that when you go to a story, you get pestered with a video of the story when you can just read the story perfectly well. It's the time it takes for the videos to get in position to be played..gets on my nerves.

And yes, many sites seem to be ruining themselves these days by radically changing the layout and putting Java all over the joint.
I stole it off a space ship.
