I kinda gauged which are the most popular by if I put em on ebay , some titles folk snap my hand off for .. while others (also crash smashes they dunno , or had left the speccy by that point... inc. me , only due to it breaking ;) )
Someone does have a hangover today, and all the little uns are here today cos' it's the wifes little cousins birthday party. So my head feels like someone is sawing it in half
I'll be alright once I have some food I think.
Then I'll have a hair of the dog later on this afternoon, I think 10:15 AM is a bit early for beer :D
Quite a few memorable games in that list. I however voted for Specventre because that game is my most fondly remembered; it were the very first budget game I ever bought :)
Well, I decided to take this silly World Cup game seriously (for Gp A at least) and have a look (using the WoS onlne emulator) at least at the contenders in Gp A that I didn't know about.
Of these games I didn't know, I have now witnessed
Molecule Man
UCM
Joe Blade 3
Devils Crown
and don't feel any the better off for knowing a bit about them now
I have also looked at
Streaker
Werewolves in London
Heartbroken
Caves of Doom
All of these seem to offer some merit, especially Caves of Doom (but for the awful sound FX)
and Custerd's Quest seems a really well scripted text game
I knew about the rest and like aspects of all of them. Dizzy, Bosconion, Specventure, Chronos and Stranded 2.5 are good games, but nothing exceptional. Amaurote is the classiest game, one of the classiest of all Speccy games, let alone budget, but I can't help feeling that it is style over substance. It epitomises just what many retro gamers dislike about modern gaming. Amaurote has great atmosphere but the game itself soon becomes repetitive and palls.
So the winner in this group (without the time/inclination to get into Custerd's Quest) absolutely has to be the bizarre story of Gregory and his missing clock. The huge shoot em up finale is extraordinary and yet the gameplay offers puzzles, mazes and absurd missions on the way, and an unlikely hero in the wet and weedy Gregory.
Gregory Loses His Clock is the sort of strange game that would never see the light of day in the current era. Gets my vote.
Originally just like the world cup a winner and a runner up, but I changed it to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. since there's so many games and I only want to do 8 groups so I haven't got 2 million threads open at once.
Group C and D later tonight, I was gonna draw them last night but real life got in the way again so maybe I'll draw them every other day now.

Sounds painful. :-o
Seconded.
I always have to be careful when I list that on ebay for typo's hehe
but it got my vote also, but it was either that or chronos.
speaking of which, these titles, I have a fair few of the list as spares to sell.
ebay wise , I do sell werewolves very quickly BUT thats a flippy tape
I just listened to the commentary.. sounds like someone will have a hang over today :)
