Problem with Centropods?

edited July 2010 in Games
Just been trying to play Centropods on a real 16k Speccy and come up against a snag. The keys don't work!

They're meant to be O and P for left and right, plus A for fire. After a bit of a wrestling match with the keys, the player gun juddered to the left a bit and let off a few rounds before going dead again. Just to let you know that it's not the keyboard membrane and that there's nothing wrong with the keys themselves. Well, I thought I'd re-load it and put the keys on Caps-lock as that sometimes works (ie - for Squij and shite like that) but no go.

Any ideas?

Am playing the re-released version.

On WoS it's... http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0000870

The keyboard routine only works with Issue 2 Speccy.

I'll make a patch for it tonight.

    Well done that man!

Silly question but... How does one know a real issue 2 16k Speccy from an issue 1?

I don't know other than opening it up and looking at what it says on the circuit board.

My Issue 2 has sockets to allow for a memory upgrade to 48k. But I remember a mate who had an Issue 1 and his didn't, he had to have a ribbon cable with a board attached to the edge connector. Then he later got an Issue 3 and his beeper was twice as loud as mine. He had overheating problems with his though, the paint lifted off the top plate near the speaker too, as well as the top plate's glue melting and becoming unstuck. That didn't last long, he plugged in an interface while it was switched on and blew it. His rich parents then bought him a 48k+.

I think there were 2 16k Issue 1's though, one without memory sockets and one with.
