WoS - Site Down after some clicks

I don't know where I can post this Thread since there is no Discussion for WoS Site itself. I posted here because there is no other place I find more suitable... :s

There is a thing I like very much in WoS:

"You can also pick a random game or text adventure"

I just love it when I click the "random" button and I get an enormous surprise because of remembering a game I loved and played 15 years ago! :)
It's perfectly impossible for me explore, game by game, all the stuff there is in the site, so, I think this "random button" is a great idea!

The thing is... I don't believe the site likes people clicking this button... :s In the last 4 days this happened to me twice:
I entered the site and after refreshing the page about 5 times, it started to respond very slowly... then, after another 5 refreshes it responded very very very slowly... then, ater another 5 refreshes, the site was down... :s
This happened to me twice... Friday and Sunday... I'm sorry for the people who lost access to the site in these 2 days... I believe it was my fault... :s

But... in conclusion... this isn't normal... hope someone finds a solution for this... :s

This sounds much more like there's a problem at your end.

In my experience, if you click random or any links too often in quick succession, the site will lock you out temporarily for one day, likely thinking you are trying to hit it with download attacks. Just click multiple links less slowly and you should be fine.

If you get banned, you will get a definite error message from the server. You won't get what the original poster is describing.

Sounds like this should be in the Misc. section, and yet not quite. Well, I'm moving it there.

    " Sinclair Miscellaneous
Anything Sinclair related that won't fit in any of the other forums, including maintenance notifications
    "

The answer I got from the Site was just this, only this:

    Bad Request
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand

I checked the logs for all past 4 days and indeed find randomseek references from telepac.pt on 2 days.
In both cases the amount of requests is low, nothing at all close to what would get one stalled or banned (and the security log does not show bans for them either).

I'm afraid the problem would thus appear to be somewhere in your browser...

Coincidence or not, I only got access to the site nearly 24 hours later... :s

Yes, that would be coincidence, as bans don't last 24 hours (they get reset during the night, so you should have access again the next morning).

    I think it's worth asking;
    • What browser are you using, and what version?
    • What OS are you using?
Website: Tardis Remakes / Mostly remakes of Arcade and ZX Spectrum games.
My games for the Spectrum: Dingo, The Speccies, The Speccies 2, Vallation, SQIJ.

And maybe that's what really happened because I only checked about 24 hours later! xD

And yet... Wait a minute! You're right!!! I lost access to the site on Sunday afternoon (yesterday) and I had access to WoS again this morning!!
