A good defender clone

Anyone ever played Guardian II - Revenge of the Mutants?

If you like Defender you can't beat it! Probably a bit odd that it came out in 1990 - but a decent game!

Yeah, it's a good game, if a bit late to the market. It's actually based on Stargate (aka Defender II) rather than the original Defender.

Yep, I liked that one too. Think I had it on a YS covertape, or something.
  • Was there a Guardian 1? I can't find it on the Wos archive

No. There are two unrelated games both called The Guardian though, so perhaps they chose the name so as not to be confused with either.

I used to play Guardian on the C64 all the time. Brilliant Defender clone; I got it on a compilation of Alligata games called "Action Pack".

Guardian (C64) was released in 1984, authored by Steve Evans. According to a comment posted on Lemon 64, the C64 sequel wasn't written by Steve Evans. They also have the release date as 1985, which seems strange as Hi-Tec (the label) didn't start until about 1990.
