An honourable mention has to go to Dare Devil Dennis on the Beeb. I used to play it quite a bit in the day. Also Zalaga, but I'm terrible at it.
I'd forgotten about Frak! , although I am completely useless at it.
Interestingly enough, it was only about six months ago I actually discovered / first played Dare Devil Dennis on a 'B, its not too bad but (IMO) gets annoying if you spend more than about 15 minutes on it. Kind of thing to come back to a day or two later rather than repeated play I guess.
Yep - I've got IJK's "Don't Press the letter Q", but it wasn't a favourite of mine though.
However, I DID forget the Oric version of MANIC MINER, which is a great attempt at the game with the Oric having 6x8 character squares rather than 8x8 like most other micros of the time. AND it's got some extra levels not in the Speccy version.
If we're just talking computers and not consoles then...
C64:
Last Ninja
Last Ninja 2
He-Man
Ye Ar Kung Fu
Donkey Kong (cartridge)
and a game that I can't remember the name of, but it was viewed in a Zelda like view point when overground, but became a side scroller when underground and it was full of guillotines. I'd love to play that again
Amiga:
Monkey Island 1 & 2
Speedball 2
Chaos Engine
Cannon Fodder
Sensible Soccor
Syndicat
Another World
Final Fight (not the best conversion, but it was still pretty good)
Guy Spy
PC:
Doom and Doom 2
Quake 3
Unreal Tournament
Monkey Island 3 (was a bastard to get running under XP and it refuses to run now)
Oric:
Harrier Attack (it's the only game I remember playing)
Games running on a decent PC are far better than their XBOX 360 or PS3 counterparts. Fallout 3 looked much better on my 2 year old PC than it did on the XBOX 360.
Yep. Unreal Tournament 3 looks amazing on my PC and it makes my PS3 version look very low-res. But, getting the bloody thing to run on my PC without random crashing all the time is a real pain ;-)
i would get a gaming PC, but i really don't like going in PC world, they are very pushy.
Build yourself one. It's much easier than you'd imagine, plus it's another tick in the box of IT skills.
Case (with a decent PSU), motherboard, CPU, RAM, GFX card, hard disk and dvd player is all you need really (I'm assuming you already have access to a keyboard, mouse and operating system).
For the equivalent price (and very often less) of a PC World PC you could build a much more powerful rig. Plus when you upgrade you recycle a lot of the parts anyway so it's not that expensive upgrading - which I do probably every 4-5 years.

WTF!!!
i wouldn't even know where to begin, aren't they full of wires and chips and fans. to be honest ive never used a soldering iron. can you get them from argos or do you have to go to a specialist shop?
There's no soldering required to build your own PC. The only tool you'll need is a Phillips screwdriver, although an anti-static wrist strap, long nose pliers, some cable ties, and a wire cutter to snip them with will be handy.

how many graphics cards should i buy, someone said in this thread you need about 10 to play new games.
Yeah, you did!! ;-) I have one gfx card in my current rig and it will play *anything* I throw at it at stupid resolutions.
As someone else already said, you don't need a soldering iron - I haven't touched an SI since I was 16 and I've built dozens of PCs. There are tons of how-to's on the internet. It really isn't anywhere near as difficult as you'd imagine.
I used to go to trade shows but now I get everything from ebuyer.com.

Just the one, but make sure it's good enough. If you want to play all current games on maxed out settings you'll need something like a GeForce 465 or Radeon 5850 which will set you back a couple of hundred quid.
On the other hand, if you just want a card that'll give superior graphics to HD consoles, you could get a GeForce 240 or Radeon 4850 and get change from ?70. Expect to have to upgrade it rather sooner than a high end card though.

Yeah building a PC is peasy. These days the most difficult part about it is installing the software, and even that's becoming a trivial matter nowadays.
just winding you guys up. i built my own pc about a year ago too. :D
still think consoles are better that PC's though.
I thought you had you sneaky little so and so ;-)
Personally I really enjoy both. Some games just work better on either. Strangely I much prefer Oblivion/Fallout3 on a PS3 pad rather than a keyboard/mouse and I prefer the Mass Effect games on keyboard/mouse to joypad.

ive gotta agree for stuff like command and concure.
but i prefer FPS with a joypad, the mouse is too annoying. yeah good for pin point accuracy but it takes you 10 minutes to turn around.

Eh? Is that really a game? Sounds like something off Cassette 50
I may just have to download another Oric emulator to check it out, I deleted my Oric stuff a while back cos' it was shit :D

Basically, it's a huge collection of semi-random minigames. The fun bit is figuring out how to play them.

Nope.
You didn't really expect it would, did you?
nope. :)

can you? i didn't know that, im know you can pulg a usb key board into the 360 for text and that. didn't know about the mouse.
how do i set the keys for each game, ive never seen the options in any game ive played.
Sorry, but that's just too obviously a wind up.
no thats not a wind up, turing with a mouse in FPS is a nightmare. dont you dare tell me you can do is quickly without loosing your line of sight.
thats why they had to put the spin round button in left 4 dead, cos all the PC gamers would keep geting raped by the zombies. :)
No, but my comment was a wind up, so there. :-D
