I've got that Stone Roses 'remix' album, some of it is awful but theres the odd tune which is pretty good. Still prefer their 'raw' songs on Garage Flower

If you have the cash to spare, buy the 20th anniversary boxset, its a beauty.

Yeah i didnt get it when it first came out as it was pretty dear and i've already got everything. Is it that much difference ? This 'original' version of the album (or is this the one which is re-mastered, they've bought out so many versions !).

I think its quite cheap now, might have another look on amazon

i can see your point that way,the reason i bought it was of course, being a fan of them, its remastered, you get the cds of the b sides, the main album, the demos themselves, but also you get vinyls in box too along with a glossy book and the box that has a number printed, the dvd is the silvertone promo videos along with the blackpool concert *which you can also get on the stone roses dvd*and a usb stick with all above,i bought mine off amazon aswell, since its over 25 pounds you can avail of free shipping, its slower but it saves the pennies and they where the only crowd that would ship it over here, sellers on play.com refused to post it here!,the boxset sits lovely with my second coming vinyl :D.

Ahhhh thats why i didnt bother then. I dont have a record player and have no love for Vinyl. Oasis did a similar thing with their last album, had a deluxe edition which featured some new b sides and remixes (which i wanted) but didnt want to fork out extra for some vinyl i would never use and it'll just sit there gathering dust.

I would like the Stone Roses album remastered with the b sides etc but dont want any vinyl at all. Frustrating when you want just 'part' of a special edition !

(Someone might be reading this in the year 2095 and think 'ha ha idiot ! that vinyl is now worth ?500k !)

Best suggestion there would be to buy the legacy edition which is two cds,one of debut album, other lost demos, and blackpool dvd,i heard hmv where selling it dirt cheap while back, ebay has it very cheap too,for the B sides, you can check out the "turns into stone" compilation

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Turns-Into-Stone-Roses/dp/B0000246X8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1283343011&sr=1-1
  • 2 studio albums but about 100 compilation albums! And i thought the Beatles were milking their catalogue!

They where signed to silvertone records, who they produced one of the best albums on that label, after that success they recorded some other songs like fools gold before they wanted out of contract, eventually they where released from contract, but silvertone held the rights to that material+album, hence reason theres being so many rereleases,it was like a lottery ticket to the label.

Geffen are less than fond of second coming album, they didn't even do anything for its tenth anniversary.

Yeah really like them, more their famous hits rather than rare b sides or that. But i did flick over to a channel a few weeks back and they had New Order in concert at Hyde Park a few years back. I dont know, they just seemed so much older and looked like total 'dad figures'. Wasnt so keen on that

Well that's going to be the a problem with most of the artists we have grown to like over the years.

When I was a kid and teen, there was 'Dad Rock', which was the likes of Dire Straights, Status Quo, Eric Clapton, Cream, and Garry Moore to name but a few.

Now our kids are going to have to listen to a whole new genre of Dad music, I'm thinking, Dad Rave, Dad Pop, Dadylectonica, Indy Dad,Dad Goth and gawd elp em Acid Dad Jazz.

Mentioned it before. Its going to be funny as anything when we're 50 or 60 years old and our kids have a big party for us and they play music from our generation. Imagine being 50 or 60 or so and listening to the prodigy at your birthday party as it was the music you grew up to etc.

"Come on dad, dance with me to smack my bitch up....' !

It'll be just like the Irn Bru ad from around about that time with the pensioner with the 2 different coloured mohawks like what Keith used to have.

hmmm, its already happening, i went to a rock club that was supposed to be classic rock (it was the only place to go)

we were expecting ZZ top, but got all the rock music we used to listen too from 10 15 years ago. quality night though.

I havent been to any 80's clubs in a while, just havent been to many clubs full stop lately but i do love the atmosphere (sounding like Russ Abbott) in these clubs, everyones friendly etc.

I've always avoided any R&B type places. Didnt mind rap back in the early 90's but didnt want to go to any rap clubs

I can honestly say there isn't a tune of theirs I dislike...and with most of my favourite groups there are usually still a few turkeys in there - not so with The Roses.
I agree there isn't a tune of theirs I dislike. Including Elizabeth My Dear which isn't even a song of their as far as I can tell...
Are there any other bands where you can honestly say all their songs are good?

Yeah i agree, the Stone Roses and Oasis, about 99% of their tunes i love, only one or two i skip on. Only Stone Roses song i get bored of is the one where its recorded backwards, does my head in after a bit !

I'm still not sure if I consider them a great band though. They just didn't put out enough material to judge.

I haven't a clue about anything in the 90's, twas a time filled with madness. I think Guns n Roses' Use Your Illusion was the last album I bought. The first and only CD player I had was in my first PC around 2000. I still don't own a seperate CD/DVD player. I once had a DVD-RAM recorder for the TV, but it broke years ago.

I've heard of Stone Roses, thats about it. What classic tracks did they do?
  • edited June 2011
Fools Gold and I am the resurrection are just two of their very famous tracks

To be honest I've heard of guns n roses but I'm unsure what tracks they've done. Think I remember them doing some tune for a Terminator film but that's about it. Remember seeing a video with some singer running about in speedos which seems bizarre

Are you serious? Sweet Child Of Mine? Paradise City? November Rain (Ugh! I hate that song!)?

Possibly my favourite Stone Roses track:

he is surely not being serious IMO. that's like saying you've never seen an episode of Neighbours or never heard of Man Utd.

    psj3809 were you being serious?
