I'd like to know how the OP happened upon such a group lol

I'd like to know exactly why the OP is objecting to it - on the grounds that it's for the Commodore, or on the grounds that they are gay...

We all object to anything connected with the C64, it's the principle of the thing ;)

(Serious bit, Dave, I think Merman was being facetious, you were weren't you Merman? If not, you should realise that this topic is a joke and neither Shaun nor anyone else is objecting to the "gay" part.)

    This thread is amusing !

Find it weird though, mention aspergers and theres a huge thread about it and people dont want you to joke about the condition, reported posts etc,, say any jokes about someones colour and theres trouble, mention denied games and theres reported posts all over the place. However do lots of gay stereotype jokes and no one says a word !

Come on people, its like its the year 1950 with some peoples views/jokes !

Err... is this genuine, or has someone set it up for a laugh?

    Regards,

    Shaun.

The use of WTF in the thread title and Shaun's original post seem to suggest he has a problem with the group existing... to me, anyway. And I'm not gay, but I hate how the thread has been used to insinuate that Commodore users are gay.

I agree - most of the gay people on this forum will be laughing at the posts... I am happy to keep the thread open as long as nobody is offended. Remember there is a report post button though...

woah there hang on now, you're telling me that there are straights on this forum?

I mean I don't mind them and they take all the jokes in good nature but they do tend to show you up at Retro Events with their drab clothing.

    my case in point

No, the point was, why does there need to be an on-line Gay Commodore users forum, because retro computers have very little to do with one's sexual orientation.

It's not like a two player game is any more or less enjoyable when played with, or discussed with someone of a different orientation (unless of course the game is sex related).

It might simply just be a sub-group of Commodore user wanting to talk about their retro hobby.

Like if a group of florists were to get together and they'd want to chat about knitting EDIT or bakers who are into extreme mountain-hiking or lawyers who are into disc golf.

There doesn't "need" to be anything in the retroscene - judging from the description on the linked page, it's more of a social group based loosely on a common interest. Kinda like Chit Chat, but where gay people can get together. Why have a problem with it?

I dont. But at the same time it's not offensive to say WFT when you stumble on such a thing, just a bit odd, odd in a good way though. But still, the worlds come a long way since the 80's therefore there is no need to have a separate gay forum for the commodore, its just silly.

I'd be more concerned with ZnorXman's thinly veiled stereotyping of gays that are into flowers and knitting...

When Karingal was a lad, "gay" meant happy. It's meaning must have definitely changed now of course, otherwise "Gay C64 users group" would mean a group of people who were happy to use a C64, which is surely an oxymoron?

It's about time ZnorXman was banned for persistantly using a a capital 'K' when it's quite blatantly clear than my username has a lower case 'k'...

Gay doesn't even mean homosexual anymore, it means crap these days. So the group is actually implying that it's a crap C64 group which we all can relate to (I say relate to cos' I know there's commodians who'll rip into me if I say "agree with").

See this interesting time scale for the word gay

    19th Century: Meaning happy.
    20th Century: Meaning homosexual.
21st Century: Staple word for every annoying mddle class twat and America wannabe of the human race meaning crap, e.g. "I told you I don't like prawns man! This pizza is so gay!". Also see It Girl, Emo, Student Wanker, Cheesy Hippy, Poser, Indy Kid, and Posh Cunt.

There we go I think that ought to clear up any confusion :D

Sorry guv! I'll try to remember, from now on, that it's karingal and not Karingal. Also, I hope this size font is easier for you to read.
