    Space Harrier
From the arcade to the Speccy to the ST to the GameBoy Micro, to the Wii running the original arcade version, utterly awesome game. Though not all formats - The C64 version was blocky, the CPC version was done with vectors (?!) and the 3D revival on the PS2 was even worse!

Errr, has it been decided yet that this the best game released on any format?

In which case Zelda Ocarina of Time

Or one game released on mulitiple formats?

In which case Pro Evolution Soccer 6.

    lemme guess.

    its probably something Japanese.

something you can only get on import

    only you've ever heard of

    and involves stabbing

    maybe a flying snake.

    Probably?

    ...and it's not a snake it's a Dragoon! :p

Hmmmm now that I think of it Panzer Dragoon Saga is a good contender for my fave game across all platforms, but I still can't say for defo's?

I'd have thought you'd maybe have gone for one of the Resident Evil games, I thought you were really fond of them? If so you're not alone, I used to work with a bloke who was a major fan of them, and they are still very popular with some people. RE4 was fantastic, though I've heard that RE5 was disappointing (not yet played the full game, just the demo and I can't remember much about it).

Haven't even played 5 yet and now 6 is en route

Lacking a modern platform powerful enough to play it on...ahem

Maybe late 2010 will be Boozy's 360 time? But I'm just not sure, realistically between the 360 and PS3 there's still only about 5 or 6 games I'd really want to play?

I'm going to be horribly hardcore and say Bangai-O Spirits.
    Runners-up probably Doom/Doom 2, Ultima Underworld and Fallout 3.

But then, in half an hours time my choices would probably be completely different.

but the guy who made it Chris Butler , I'm guessing refined his perspective game engine.. he went onto make powerdrift , turbo charge.

he also did thunderblade, which as conversions go , I thought was better than the review it got.

they did space harrier 3 on 64 also

    Favourite doesn't neccesarily mean best...

Super Mario World, SNES. Nearly 20 years later, I still love this game.
  • Glad no one's mentioned Mario Kart. Most overated series ever.

Shenmue 2 for me. I have completed it twice now, once when it came out and once again last year on the XBox 360 and it was such a joy to play through it all again. I am sure I will do it again in a few years, I think it is one that I will just keep coming back to.

I also think Zelda: The Wind Waker is a close second for me. It has aged incredibly well and now seems better than Ocarina to me.

Bit of a cop out, i know. Probably go for Civ if i had to choose just one. Syndicate was great. Hiding round the corner with a flame thrower and toasting everyone that comes round!

Same here! Both great games but i'll go for Civ, that first game gave sooo many late nights! It was one of the most adddictive games ever made, it looks crap now (the 4th is my fave now).

I've never been a pc gamer and so have never played 3 or 4. Civ 1 is still playable cos the graphics are simple. Civ 2 on the playstation is a mess though. Civ Rev on DS is also very good for a quicker more conflict based game.

for the replay value/fun, I would have to say any good version of a football manager (or the old CM)

    Seconded.

I've played every iteration of the game since CM'93 on Amiga. In that respect alone I'd say it has to be my fave game across all formats out of sheer longevity.

We never did have that netty game did we VanTammen? Maybe 1 day...

When will there be a Football Manager on DS? It's the perfect platform for it. God, developers are so stupid it makes me mad!

Football Director DS - Came out a couple of years back, its not bad but nothing to write home about

i think the fifa games on the DS have management modes. but i think they are a bit basic.
  • It's crying out for one. It doesn't need to have all the european leagues just the top 4 English leagues and top league from Spain, Italy, Germany and France if that's all that will fit.
