I've never been a pc gamer and so have never played 3 or 4. Civ 1 is still playable cos the graphics are simple. Civ 2 on the playstation is a mess though. Civ Rev on DS is also very good for a quicker more conflict based game.

Yea my brother had Civ 2 on the PS and he said it was riddled with bugs and prone to crashing. Can't understand how a game with so many bugs managed to get released.

    Tomb Raider 1 (PlayStation).
After all these years, this game still amazes me. :)
    My favourite level "Palace Midas":

talking of playstation, Everybody's Golf 2 on the ps1 is amazing. yesterday I played the Playstation 3 version round my mate's and even though it's been 'improved' in virtually every way, it's nowhere near as good as the ps1 version somehow.

same thing with Tony Hawks skating. TH2 on the playstation is miles better than any of the subsequent versions on better consoles.

    rant over.:-)

    Seconded.

I've played every iteration of the game since CM'93 on Amiga. In that respect alone I'd say it has to be my fave game across all formats out of sheer longevity.

We never did have that netty game did we VanTammen? Maybe 1 day...

did you upgrade for FM 2010? I never got that one... I'm waiting for the 2011 and then, all I can say is game on ;)! (did you try the FM online?)

Yep, the only version of FM I've missed was FM2007 - I had a great game going on FM2006 and couldn't be bothered to get that version.

I have FM2010 and I will probably be getting FM2011 as well.

I'll see if I can get some more faces interested in a netty game then for later in the year.

Can I just say how glad I am that no one has named "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" as their favourite. Not that I'd object to it being anyone's favourite (and I'd have no right to object, of course), it's just that I'm sick of every XBox 360 board I go on proclaiming that COD:MW is the be all and end all of first person shooters. NO IT'S NOT! Fair enough, they're entitled to their opinions and their favourites, but so many COD:MW players seem to feel that if COD:MW does it then it's right, whereas if it's not in COD:MW then it doesn't belong in a FPS game at all.

They make Halo fanboys look almost open-minded.

Those CoD fanboys wouldn't know mini crossbows, dragon's tooth swords, augmentations or gravity guns if they were hit over the head with all of those at the same time.

Erm, it's not actually out yet. Has it even been seen, other than some videos and screenshots? If it has been demoed for people to play then I'd be interested to see what they think of it.

Or do you mean Goldeneye on the N64? If so then you have to be commended on the the second best answer in this thread, after that bloke (whoever he was) who nominated the all-conquering classic Perfect Dark. That's one man who's obviously a good judge of quality, and restores my faith in humanity!

A toss up between SWOS on the Amiga, Warcraft 2 on the PC, Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2 and Jet Set Willy on the Speccy.

    Aaaaaarggggghhhhh I can't decide!!!!!!

Popular rumour says not going to happen.

    http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2009/09/21/goldeneye-64-re-release-is-unlikely/1

    or that it might happen

    http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2010/06/08/activision-working-on-goldeneye-sequel/1

or it will happen and will be shite

    http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2010/08/20/goldeneye-wii-has-regenerating-health/1

"This is a reimagining of GoldenEye," said an Activision spokesperson. "It is not a remake."

Regenerating health, what else can they think of to ruin a classic?. Oh, wait, Activision are doing it so they can ruin anything in loads of crappy and unimaginative ways.

    Stick to the N64 version.

I hope they include some aliens, and some nazis, and then perhaps a dinosaur or 6, ooh and a time machine, that'll help explain why the other 3 are there in the first place :D

Goldfinger - The final Chapter, That will be the stick it up your ass version.

I was talking about Goldeneye but the result will probably be the same with Activision doing it.

yeah it does look pretty good that black ops.

i think there is going to be a remote control buggy/bomb in the multiplayer, which is gonna be ace.

apologies to ewgf and others for not still playing a 10 year old shonky PC FPS.

Yeah, I noticed that little RC buggy thing in the preview too, looks great. The training mode for noobs/me looks quite cool too. Not sure if I'll buy it right away though, I got a bit bored of MW2 fairly quickly (dying 20 times or so a game can become somewhat tiresome), so I'll be waiting for the new one to come down in price first.

thats the problem, you buy em too late, by the time your stumbling around the map, everyone else knows it off by heart. :-D

its good that they have stepped away from modern warfare.

hopefully cod 7 will be a full blown vietnam epic though.

Yeah, you might have a point there.

I'm glad it moved away from WWII, as I'm not so keen on them kinda war shooters. Vietnam will be a good setting though... they've not done one yet, have they (CoD, I mean... I know there are tons of other Vietnam shooters, but the ones I've played have been pretty cack. Shellshock springs to mind...)?

Also, it'd be more like ?200 to build a system from scratch that meets the recommended requirements for GTA4; ?40 if all you need is a new graphics card.

Then again, why bother when the game is crap?
