Hyper Sports credits

edited September 2010 in Games
In the recent uploaded scanned instructions we can read at the beginning:
Its program code, graphic representation, and artwork - are the copyright
of Ocean Software Limited and may not, be reproduced, stored, hired or
broadcast in any form whatsoever without the written permission of O.S.L.
[...]

and at the end we can read:
(C) Imagine Software (1984) Limited

I read somewhere that Imagine was taken over by Konami in 1985, but I didn't know about Ocean copyright. were Ocean & Imagine the same company by this year?

Does anyone know more about this?

Ocean bought the Imagine label. Konami had nothing to do with it. IIRC the original plan was to put all their arcade conversions out on Imagine and the original games out on Ocean. I don't know if BUSINESS wise if it was all just one company but it certainly was in all other respects. All Ocean and Imagine products were dealt with by exactly the same staff.

I must have read the Financial Times more often in the 80's ... ;)

Talking seriously, I don't remember any other game credits where both Ocean and Imagine appear...

Konami get a copyright credit for the original arcade game, they never took over Imagine. As Mark says, Ocean used the label for several of the Konami conversions.

I think it went a bit deeper than that..

in the US konami also put out games.. so maybe it was under the understand it was, ok.. you have UK rights.. but in the US we put the games out , but with our brand on..

    http://www.lemon64.com/games/details.php?ID=3658

    being 1 example..

konami later coded their own 64 stuff.. but the one that always interests me is salamander on speccy.. as I have 2 , 1 by konami.. 1 by imagine..

the 64 version was proper of it though :D

I have a US version of cabal on 64.. BUT it's nothing to do with ocean / imagine.. it's made by whoever konami hired in the states
