Has the god-awful aiming not wound you up yet? :-P

The aiming isn't too bad on foot or by car, but those chopper missions are absolute el bastardos!!!

I've got used to shooting the gun now, but you wouldn't believe the frustration and swearing that was going on while I was trying to liberate Nacho's tanker, and then making you defuse bombs in the style of deals onboard!!! I almost took a hostage in real life.

But like I say I'm used to it now so no I'm OK, the less chopper missions in future the happier I'll be........here's just hoping that twat of a mission you mentioned isn't one of them?

If it is don't tell me please, I'm not sure I could take it :D

Haha, nah it's not a chopper mission, it's a case of driving a van somewhere, then driving to another van before the van gets destroyed by Gaspar's goons. I keep getting completely spanked as soon as I get to them... and if the driver of the van dies, you have to start again, and she just stands in the middle of the street like an idiot. I've managed to kill the goons and get in the van just once... and then the cops came, destroyed what was left of my van, and that was that. Joypad on the floor, power button prodded in an angry fashion.

Yes so called AI characters do seem to be almost zombie like in this game, I've noticed the extreme frequency of henchmen to own bullet ratio, they just run infront of you as you happen to be spraying with max power. Even worse if you go blind rage they seem to almost jump infront of you gun, the only thing missing is them shouting "Please Boss!!!! Kill me!!!!". Unfortunately the spackers you're trying to protect do exactly the same thing, the Chi Peso manager just died several times at my hands by his own badly programmed AI, he literally ran in front of me on about 15 attempts.

If I hadn't have just stayed outside and went beserk with the Mach 10 I'd still be doing that mission now, either that or the TV would've got a joypad sandwich through it's screen.

Yup, AI is definately one of the game's biggest foibles. And the aiming... I find myself shouting things like "no, not him... the other bloke, the one shooting at me" a lot. GTA had the right idea (lock on one enemy, and then flick between them with the R2/L2 buttons), but I find the combat in Scarface a big old pain in the butt because of this. As you mentioned the other day though, the car-handling is great, even in the super-fast cars... but I still prefer the handling in GTA. GTA's just better, ok? :p ;)

Siren Blood Curse? I've got that and it's ok. It's very dark and there's alot of waiting in cupboards etc, but if you like hide and seak style survival horrors then you'll probably enjoy this one. It's broken up into bite sized chapters too so if you take a long break from it (like I tend to do), you get the important parts of the story filled in for you.

I've been playing Dead Rising 2 this week and I've got to say that I'm pretty bored with it now. I've managed to level up to level 11, but it's random with what it gives you when you level up and I'm low on health. My brother for example is the same level as me, but he's been given 2 extra health blocks, whereas I mainly got combo cards (gee...thanks game!). So, I'm finding it tough going at the moment. i'm progressing through the story pretty well, but I keep coming across "psycho's" who are stupidly over powered and are killing me in no time. I'm getting fed up of starting in the same place all over again, but i don't want to start the game from the begining again as the first 2 chapters are really boring!

I downloaded EA Sports MMA demo last night. The 2 UFC games have been pretty good, so i was kind of looking forward to this, but it's next to unplayable. For a start, it uses Fight Night's analog controls for punches etc, but they just arn't responsive enough to work here. All I can manage is a jab or two. nothing else. Also, once the computer has got you in a take down, you may as well quit as he'll just pound away until you flake out. Add to that the total lack of any comentary and really poor production values compared to the UFC games and you've got a massive let down. It's not even worth downloading the demo for :(

on the plus side, Fallout 3's The Pitt was only 400ms points last night, so i grabbed that with the free points that I've been getting recently with games from HMV :D

Now playing: Spitfire 40 on the Acorn Electron. The flying around, take off and landing is okay, but how many rounds do those 'Shmitts' take before they eventually go down? Yikes, it's blinkin' tricky compared to the Spec version. Not downed a single Hun yet.

Have they ruined it with crap voice acting like they did with the first two? I hated the voices so much I got rid of the first game...I wish they'd put in an option to leave the Japanese voices with English subtitles...That would make more sense.......

Anyhoo, I've started playing Dead Space on Hard again....still need to do that bloody tricky meteorite shooting bit in it for an achievement as well! I always get close, but then 3 massive meteorites come hurtling forward and bugger it all up....

    Scarface.....again!

Well Greencard I think I may have hit the point in the game you were stuck on? I've got 1 driver on his way so far, but I couldn't even get into the warehouse that houses the second truck Gaspar's goons had me pinned down and I only had half a rage buildup, so I basically got cut to pieces trying to enter the warehouse :(

I had to use the sniper rifle just to get that far as well, I see what you mean it is bloody rock!

I take it you did mean the first North Beach mission, just called Un-Load? Even distribution is way too hectic now, rival gangs I can deal with but it's easier to let a gang destroy one of your fronts and use the time it's being attacked to collect the rest of your money. Then repair your front and pay your gang heat down, basically costing over 1 million of what you earned on distribution.

I will have that Solid Gold Tiger though :D

EDIT: Oh jeez no! I now know the mission after this one is the bast!!!!!

Delivery is the one you were talking about isn't it?

Maribel doesn't seem completely useless I've not killed her myself yet, but the dozy mare did take a couple in the shoulder before I could even let go of the trigger. But getting from that little bridge to the second storehouse is ridiculous.

On my last attempt I called my car (Lakota fastback is ace :D), and got a rolling start from the Marina storehouse, was well on my way before Logan called me up, but I ran over so many people and hit so many things (I've noticed they've fenced off all my shortcuts that I use on this mission as well, they must've known that people would try and use them ) as soon as I shot the gangsters on the bridge next to my almost completely undamaged truck the cops were after me, the bastards popped my tires with a stinger, and at that point I had to take a 5 minute breather before I stamped on my PS2

Just gotta try and finish this mission off before Missus Boozy gets up :D

EDIT: EDIT: Arses I almost made it, I was literally outside the store house and my van caught fire, in the mad panic to get to and drive into the circle before the van blew I got out by accident. So I just stood still and watched in dismay as my van blew up killing me and the stupid civilian who drove into me. Why the hell was there a regular car outside of my storehouse anyway? It's like this game is programmed to throw everything at you to literally foil any idea you have?

Shortcuts blocked, shoot the enemy cars they speed up and drive next to you about 3 seconds before they explode. Get out of the car and shoot at them, the game waits til' your clip's almost empty, then sends a guy with a chainsaw at you as you're reloading, bye bye head, get out and blow their cars up the cops appear, lose the cops, more gangsters appear with grenade launchers?

    It's just total insanity

I never played the original 2 games, so I wouldn't really know. But, there is a making of video (don't load the game, but look under the movies icon on the dash board and it's there) and if I remember right, it's the same actors that did the Japanese voices doing the English sountrack too.

I downloaded Hydrophobia on Xbox Live the other nigt and that's pretty good. It's got some good atmosphere and the water physics are really good, but that's it's big selling point anyway. it's kind of reminding me a bit of Blue Stinger on the Dreamcast (an underrated game if you ask me). I'm not too sure why though, but it just does.

On the downside, I feel it's probably a very short game. It only has 3 chapters and I got to the 2nd one in about an hour, so 1200 MS points may be a bit expensive. Also, you are guided around by a Scottish bloke, but who ever it is obviously isn't Scottish as his accent keeps going. He reminds me alot of Grounds Keeper Willy from the Simpsons, but not as funny. He's starting to get on my nerves a little

    Scarface again.

But I did just have a tester play of Silent Hill Origins, picked it up for $9.95 from the vidshop earlier. Just got payed yesterday so I figured I'd pick it up, at that price it's a steal, I haven't seen a new or used copy since it first came out, and let's face it, it's Silent Hill, games exchanges will already be selling it for more than the $29.99 it retailed at 2 years ago or whenever it came out.

It looks pretty rough though, the town looks alright, but something about the graphical style looks like a cross between 1 and 2. Travis looks very PS1-ish tbh, very washed out looking, and so do the textures for the town. But the fog and the framerate that it runs at seem to be of PS2 quality.

Not sure how I'll like this one really, but I've got it and that's all that matters, now that I think of it this is the only Silent Hill game I've managed to get a real life copy of.

Strange for such a big fan of the series eh (not that strange though I'm a skinflint who refuses to pay more than they retailed at new for a series that's only just hitting the prime of it's 11th year.....it really has been that long stone me!!!! Especially since the majority of them are under 10 years old).

Well after a break of a few hours I did that really hard mission on my first attempt, loving that.

Greencard if you ever want to start playing Scarface again I can give you a step by step on how to do that mission, it's pretty easy once all the sneaky tricks you manage to put together to not get blown up work well.

Funnily enough I was sober, earlier, now I've had 5 or 6 beers I'm finding the game a breeze.....maybe I have the same thing that happens when I'm playing pool. I'm OK when I'm sober, but not that good, but get 4 or 5 pints in me and I can murder the other guy, unfortunately 7 or 8 pints and I'm worse than when I'm sober :D

It was originally designed to be PSP exclusive but they later basically did a direct port to the PS2 to get more sales (the PSP not really being that big outside of Japan).

I only got as far as the hospital (I think I'm in the basement) before getting bored with it. Although there were a few connections to SH1 it didn't really feel like a SH game.
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

Easy when you know how eh? ;)

Cheers for the tips Boozy, I'll give it another bash in a mo. Funnily enough, I use pretty much the same weapon set, except with the AK instead of the Carbine. Not sure if I've even bought the Carbine yet, but if not I'll pay Lemme a visit before I start that mission again.

Last time I played I was having trouble with the drug deals too. Where I've not played it properly for so long, I just can't get the timing right with the "deal bar" thingy (which usually causes the dealers to start shooting you). Yes, I'm rubbish.

EDIT: I've only gone and bleedin' done it!! Your tips worked a treat Boozy... there's a spanner just as you leave the bridge on your right, and that pretty much saved my bacon. I did have a bit of help though; I did another mission (on the islands, cleared a gang out of some building), and built up my rage meter, just so when I was running low on health I could use the rage to heal up. I love the way Tony says "I could use a drink" after the Mirabel mission... that's exactly what I was thinking once I'd finally done it.

Aye now try distributing your 30 keys of coke without tearing your hair out

Got the first 15 keys done, but I effed up the second 15, it's not a story mission, but I need the money for the last few exotics (not that 2 15 key distribs will make me anywhere near the $200,000,000 total I'm gonna need.

Specially not when doing a distrib through South Beach, Little Havana, and Downtown generate full gang heat which costs about 1.5 mill to pay down, and you will lose at least 1 front as well, just hope it isn't a South Beach one they all cost at least a million to repair, and that's not including buying serveillance or henchmen. Then you have to take off the banks cut, and then you realise when you're done that the 10 or 11 mill you just earned is almost friggin' worthless

Yep, I tried distributing the first 15 keys, lost a few fronts, bank took 16%, so I'm left with just under $9m. I haven't had a look at what exotics I have for a long long time though, so I'm not sure how much I'll need, but hopefully I'll have a bit more luck with my second round of distribution. I've managed to pick up a load of coke off dead goons, so I'll go sell that to one of the fronts too... I know it's chump-change compared to the distribution missions, but it all counts, y'know?

Well, I'm starting to look for games to get me in the mood for Halloween.....

So, to begin with I've been playing The Addams Family on the SNES! I'd forgotten what a groovy wee game it is...and how frustrating it can be! Especially in that bloody oven...

I can remember the sequel, Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt was supposed to be better, but I just find that far too difficult...

Been playing Scarface lots over this weekend. I just need to take over North Beach now and then I'm done, but I can't seem to make enough money to buy exotics. Last three distribution missions I've tried have all gone baps-up... usually because of the police (not the goons, for a change). How does the whole "lose the cops" thing work exactly? I've tried hiding until the white bar is gone, and I've tried escaping the red zone on the map, both resulting in a "YOU'RE ******" message, and me losing all my hard earned cash. What a swizz!!

Been playing GTA IV lately. Going through the batch of missions available when the third island becomes accessible. Almost thrown the controller at the telly a couple of times due to the lack of mid-mission checkpoints. Really annoying when you spend ages getting far and then have to start again when you die (especially if you're a crap gamer like me). I suppose they've cottoned on to this - the DLCs have mid-mission checkpoints, as does their later open-world game, Red Dead Redemption.

Anyway, apart from that, it's a great game. Also been doing some of the stunt jumps - only got another 40-odd to do :-p

I've always found the missions in the GTA series very uninspiring. There have been some good one's but they're few and far between. And usually the one's to unlock other parts of the map are really frustrating!

same thing happen to me with the game... I've hardly ever touched it since May, when I got it (and ver since I got Red Dead Redemption it has been unplayed).

Right now I'm downloading Civ IV complete edition on STEAM, for 39,99 it seemed like a beter deal than buying Civ V

Don't get me wrong I've had hours of fun with GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas it's just that the story missions are usually a chore.

Civ IV + Beyond the sword is many people's favourite Civ game.

Since Spider-Man (the one for PS1) that a super-hero game didn't feel so close to the experience of reading a comic book!

You're in for hours of fun with that one (and once you master the stealth attacks, it will become sort of an obsession).

I was pissed only at a moment of the game, because I didn't do a specific thing and found out that I had not earnd a trophy because of that and couldn't go back to re-do it... (but I'm sure going to play that one again!).

have you seen the trailer for the sequel? it looks even better!

Right now I'm playing Civ IV, made a fast costum game, but it seemed a bit faster than I remembered... played less than an hour yesterday and in no time I was in midle ages... the workers seem better than in CIV III, but the "skip" boton is to similar to the "go to" boton, so I've been losing lots of moves...

one thing I never really got with CIV games is why once you have a big city, you cant make more than one combat unit at the time...

what about strategies? I always go for lot's of cities... but that doesn't always seem to work...

Yeah, really liking the game....I've just got to the bit where the morgue and Scarecrow is, but I've stopped playing it and I'm going to wait until tonight and it's a bit darker to increase the spooky atmosphere....

I don't know how long I've got the game on loan for either, so it might have to be a purchase if I get addicted to hunting Riddler puzzles and things like that! Hehe...

And yeah, the sequel is already looking really good too! :)
