The most rare games?

edited October 2010 in Games
Found a whole stack of games recently up in the loft & wondered what games that go up for sale on ebay get the most cash?

will work my way through them & see if any are MIA :)

scrabble and make a chip.. make sure jdanddiet + murcteps don't see you mention em.. they'll go crazy outbidding each other for em on a certain auction site

it depends what they are, and well they are worth what someone is willing to pay for em.. much as some folk I buy off "assume" something is rare when it's common and that crapo game in the corner of the pic on ebay is the real / rare gem.

you can look at completed listings on ebay also if you want.

if you wanna sell them as a bundle / job lot or have the time to sell em seperately .. it depends on the actual games also .. as I'll buy some crud games IF the bundle has gems also :)

Theres also a few 'compilation' tapes in the pile so either will be full of the most popular 'swops' on em or you never know................

A lot od Spectrum games go unsold on eBay and many that do sell only go for 1 or 2 pounds. However, all Ultimate Play the Game games sell pretty well and for decent prices too.

The 1990 Virgin game of Judge Dredd seems to be quite rare as well - it's still missing from the archive, and that seems strange since the publisher was one of the major software houses of the time, not a small company.

yep, I won that :) I wanted to get hold of the company actually, since the address is in the instructions. (I briefly owned those two in the last year, hence they got preserved)

I thought this was an unreleased title? This would explain its rarity.
It was reviewed by Sinclair User, Crash, Your Sinclair, C+VG and Microhobby so we can be pretty sure it was released.

Clearly, on every level, the most rare game, because it's true, and also a delicious pun, is Mire Mare.

It is rumoured to exist :)

If any copies of Guriana Sisters ever actually got packaged, those would be probably about as gold dust as it gets. We know that one got to the magazines for reviews. Crash smash, as I recall, and then never sold. (aargh!).

"Great Giana Sisters"? - had a copy of it! - it did come out!, was in one of those double clear cases, kicking myself now as it was sold with the speccy when i 'upgraded' to a c64 (i know, i know!)

as for mire mare has anyone actually taken up anyone from rare to send the a copy for a tenner with a print out of the interview in which didn't i read somewhere that if anyone had done this they would have done it all those years ago?

You sure ? Never heard of anyone having a copy of this on the Speccy. I thought the C64 one was released then after Nintendo and co got on the case they withdrew the game from market (but obviously a fair few still sold).

Never heard of anyone ever having the Speccy version

are the 128k versions of Thundercats and Ghostbusters rare? I've been after them for a while.

I'm planning in time to get all the releases that had the original style of packaging as well, i'd expect a few of them to be difficult to find.
  • edited October 2010
no, but they're scarce. I sold my 128 Ghostbusters a few months ago.

I've got Thundercats. The 128k and the 48k are both the same aren't they? Mine just loads extra blocks after the main game code when you have a Speccy in 128k mode. You get better sound and better presentation.

I've got a few original A3 Ultimate posters, plus Silversoft and Imagine ones (including the mighty Stonkers lol). How much do they usual go for?
