well if by delegating you mean saying "sod it, what's the point?" and going back to bed to leave the rest fail to sort it out by themselves... then yes, I was great at delegation lol.
I sense topic drift occurring here... lets get back on track.
I seem to have accidentally volunteered myself onto some kind of FAQ wiki team. A wiki has been created and I've been told to "knock myself out" lol :-o
Putting aside the memory of me saying the last project I participated in was a disaster for a moment... Who would like to be part of an experiment to see if we really can put together a decent contender for being the new Sinclair FAQ? :)
has anyone ever had that feeling as they're barrelling down a mountain amongst thousands of tons of snow and uprooted pine trees that when standing at the top of an unstable mountain peak they should have kept their damn mouth shut?
I've made a start copying a few articles from the tech wiki and adding links etc. I also created a few blank pages to start figuring out a structure to the navigation.
I suggest that anyone who wants to work on this gets themselves onto the WoS irc server so we can all chat about it
Sorry for promising and not delivering. I know many spare-time projects extend into infinity, and the community is very good about not berating people too much for that, but I did gab about specific dates and didn't keep them, so I apologise for that.
Real life, instead of getting calm enough for a fandom contribution (as I'd expected) has actually gotten infinitely more hectic. Hence I haven't been around much of late. I'm relieved that someone has called me on my absence and taken up the reins, and hopefully in the near future I can find the time to contribute to the *new* FAQ initiative.

For now, though, I shall skulk away again. :)
I think this has always been the problem with any (effectively) one man project. Hopefully a wiki can avoid that!
I gather that the material copied over from the tech wiki is CC-BY-SA so it will need attribution and has to remain creative commons.
Absolutely. The "-SA" (Share Alike) bit means that your only option for redistributing it is under exactly the same license. Practically, what this means is that if you're thinking of the new FAQ not in general being CC-BY-SA, then you're going to have to find some way of keeping the two "halves" separate as you won't be able to mix content between new stuff and stuff copied from the Tech Info wiki.
On the other hand, I'm (personally: I don't speak for any other editors here) happy for any text I wrote for the Tech Info wiki to be distributed under any "reasonably sane" license; the only reason the Tech Info wiki is CC-BY-SA is because that's what Wikia requires, rather than it being a positive choice of license on my part. If you any of the stuff I wrote for the Tech Info wiki to be licensed under something other than CC-BY-SA, drop me a mail.
I have no idea what the status on the stuff in the c.s.s faq is, who wrote what? and are they still around? I think neuro was maintainer at one point?
The CSS FAQ is of "mixed parentage". It's probably safest to say that you should rewrite any text from there as there's never been a clear assignment of copyright.

that's what I was expecting the answer to be.
For the most part I'm interested in the technical reference section and most of that will be very easy to rewrite as it's mostly facts and figures.
You're the forum's resident legal eagle so I'm happy to go along with whatever suggestions you make as to what licensing etc should be used.
(as long as it doesn't say everyone's contributions are (c) phil kendall and you own our imortal souls lol)
By far the easiest would be to have the Sinclair FAQ under CC-BY-SA. That means that all you need to do when you import anything from the Tech Info wiki would be to add the appropriate attribution to the page, for example something like:
(text basically taken from Wikia's licensing page). You'll probably want to set up a small template on the FAQ wiki to make it easy to add that attribution :-)

I probably /want/ to... figuring out how to might take me a while :)
/me goes to rtfm
Edit:
it looks like JGHarson knows what he's doing re templates and things... maybe he'd like to set that up *hint hint* ;)
Software not including OS ROMs which run on a sinclair computer or clone, as opposed to emulators and tape transfer tools etc running on other systems (software tools category).

Hmmm - I have set up a few mediawiki installs before now - give me a shout if you have any issues

What license is this under?
I guess creative commons? I really don't know the ins and outs of the different licenses and what is compatible with what.

Looks like it works.
I'm working on the stuff that I know about (the +3, hardware bits and bobs, etc) but I really know nothing about:
spectrum software
emulator file formats
emulators themselves
the timex computers
the ZX80 or ZX81
etc etc :)
any contribution, however small will be welcomed greatly :)
pop into #general on the WoS irc server if you have any questions :)
