Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

I recently watched 'Conan the Destroyer', a genuine 80's film, I loved it back in the day, when I was 13, but now I think it's a stupid film starring an idiot guy. And Grace Jones, what a bad actress!

As for 'Dune', I think it was a very overrated film, very boring. I'm looking forward to seeing the new version, more 'commercial', I hope...

    R.I.P.

    That's sad :(

As for Dune, I love that film! Never heard of it being 'over hyped' though... remember everyone hating it and I thoroughly enjoyed it... Great soundtrack by Toto too! :D

Dune is one of those films where if you have read the book, and understood it's premise, the film is actually a pretty good version all in all. Of course the big problem was that most of its audience hadn't , so it tended to leave a very strong "WTF was all that about?" taste in the mouth.
I agree with Beccy, it was slated at the time, mostly by puzzled reviewers of course, so I don't think the word "overrated" could ever really be applied. :)

Yep, the book is always better than the corresponding film. I've always been interesting in reading this book, I must give it a try!

But I found the film very boring, maybe because in these years the films I loved were Back to the Future, Rambo, Commando etc... a genuine film-lover! ;)

Dune. Very much misunderstood when it was released, but became a massive hit 10 years afterwards. Even Frank Herbert admitted that it was better than his book. Yup!

Conan the barbarian is awesome, and long live, Flash Gordon.

One of the best in the industry. RIP indeed. :(

I think the cast they put together for the movie was perfect... even Sting... but Kenneth McMillan stole the show as the Baron... one of the reasons I found it really hard to watch the TV mini series... it was just weak in comparison.

I'm glad I saw the film before reading the book ( well, I say read... unabridged book on tape *ahm* )

yeah watching the film makes reading the book easier. although its not a difficult book to get into.

it wa sa good film a lot from the book packed in there.

i noticed how the mini series made some of the same changes that the film made. i really dont remember what they were though.

God, the tv series was just a great big pile of poo. I remember watching it onthe Sci-Fi channel (when it still had a decet name and logo!) and I got really bored with it. I'd even say the acting in the Star Wars prequels was better!

The film though is brilliant. I don't actually have the film on DVD yet. I've got the 3 hour version, but not the cinematic version. I must buy it really soon.

No good for me, don't have a blu ray player. Don't even have an HD telly yet either, ours is just a crt that is "HD ready". Basically, you can plug in HD things but they're only 480. Which isn't HD.
