Speccy Tour - Summary

edited November 2010 in Games
SUMMARY after 4 weeks:

week1 - it was 'warming up' time, players just get familiar with
elected games... few good scores was achieved.

week2 - time for "Battle on the bridge" - early Don Priestley's
masterpiece, 3D Tanx was 'hot'... even player ranked as 5th have a
great score! We can consider game as 'solved' only after 2 weeks of
Tour!

week3 - Joffa Smith's Mikie was the most 'popular' game in this week,
few amazing playbacks can be found on Tour's site (for your 'watching
delight'), many have try, but "350k score" club is All-British so far... ;-)

week4 - I guess, only Bomb Jack can beat back Mikie from player's
focus... ATM we can be witness of great fight, 3 players are on 2
million 'bar', still improving their scores from day to day! True
playback delight!!

week5 have just started... what's next?

Well, you have to admire Alex's modesty ;)

I'm doing here... nothing special, just playing games and enjoy in them (for me it's kind of stress-eliminator ;-)...

In 1985, in England or Spain or... in every street, you could find one skillful player like me... it's nothing special... nothing of life-economy-... importance... it's just fun.

Every my [1] recording-playback is dedicated for 'watching delight', for those who were as kids, 'at arcades' before inserting their coin, watching over someones shoulder trying to learn some trick, discover an tactic, pattern... [2] for all mentioned skillful guys, who are now heads of their families, busy as hell with nowadays 'dynamics'... world... crisis... $$$...

[1] here I'm speaking only about very, very good ones ;-) note that I'm crap player for some games!
[2] and make longer 'run' of their (maybe last or only) coin... ("Ohh, if I've had just one more go...") ;-)

I have yet to see a game for which Alex is "crap". After more than 10 years he's still the most formidable adversary I've ever met 8)

Talking about the Tour, I really miss Stack. :( I don't know whether he has given up taking part in it because he was disappointed with so many rehashed games - or maybe he's lurking in the shade, ready to beat us up with his scores!

I have been thinking exactly the same thing. Come on Stacky!

    I'll add 2 things...

    1. ST10 is the most interesting Tour when we speak about fight for no.1 spot, still 5 candidates ('in game')!!! Yep, Rebufo is '5th element' ;-) Edu could be 6th, but lack of time I guess...

    2. week 5 - Charles Darwin would be proud, EVOLUTION in Speccy Game(s) in example - 3D Tanx...
...first we just play, then we tried to hold all 4 tracks blocked, then we switched to 3-track-block, and finally (so far!) keeping 2 tracks under control (with or without temporary 'control' over 3rd track)...

    what's next... ???

    P.S. I have an idea...

Coming to think about this, I have noticed that in the last few years we have witnessed a sharp decline in the number of active players. Up to about four years ago we had more than 30 active - even partially - players over a lot more signed for the Tour.

Now we have no more than 30 signed players, out of which only about 10-12 manage to qualify for the final leaderboard. And among them, the ones who actually vie for the top positions are no more than 4-5.

Who knows what has changed in the meantime. Commitment with work and/or families, maybe? Simple lack of interest due to "growing up"?

Hmm, visiting the link, it reminded me I wanted to add this among the sites ZXDS can download from online once I add support for RZX external snapshots. Who is the one I should get in touch with regarding this?

    Thanks,

    Patrik

Its nice to be missed. I'm missing the competition too. Every year I host a big event in London and this year it was scheduled a few weeks later than normal, so it's time, not the rehashed games.

The rehashed games have gone down well as far as I can see. Bombjack looks especially popular.

I have been watching the scores go up with interest though. I may still post a few scores, but have yet to make a test recording and I'm still busy with event follow up.
