What should I say about it?

Gorgeous looking graphics, 7 coloured sprites on screen, a really large maze, and completely different from GC1. I'm still surprised how you've actually managed to cram all that into 48K.

Looking forward to see GC3 (or Trooper, or something else)!

and CodenameV managed to have a double buffer for the screen, the loading screen compressed in memory and a tune from Mister Beep, not a bad effort for his second full game

There was a post on Retro Gamer about loading it on a real machine, so it made me think that in future perhaps an mp3 should be included with any release. What do you think?

I haven't tried this file as yet

    http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/binman/Development/Ghost Castle 2.mp3

    (download)

    http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/binman/Development/Ghost Castle 2.zip

    but I have successfully loaded 320kbit mono mp3's onto my 48k/+/128k toastrack/+3

so should we include a wav/mp3 along with the tap file in future?

Yep well done mate. Just got my copy this morning, good to see Speccy games as always ruling the homebrew section !

Highest rating i've seen in RG for a homebrew game for quite some time. Well done you two, now get on with Ghost Castle III ;)

Could be. Normalized into 99% in CoolEdit or SoundForge... With some small silence fragments just before the program and on the end too (most required for new crappy WinAmp and all the hardware MP3 players).
    Possibly mono...
And with some resonable turbo of course. :)
320kbps should be enough. Not lower anyway.

on a side note, as with Trooper:Point 5...

Just like to say it's those finishing touches that brought the whole thing together.

An excellent tune again by Mister Beep (even if we did lose the drums :-(), gave it that feel of a game from 'back then'.

The comments made in this forum, which really helped to get the difficulty 'just right' (if there is such a thing).

And of course it would be nothing without the work that CodenameV did, to tweak and tune the bloody thing and again putting up with and my 'here I've just had a thought what if we....' where he would have to bolt something else onto it.

I've promised to write it down on paper next time and get everything in place before the programming starts, then there will be no surprises!!
