I was only a nipper..I remember the barman in our hotel in Benidorm kept giving me and my brother rum and coke when we ordered coke (I was about 9 at the time). And drinking Champagne at the hotel 'welcome' party and then going swimming drunk.

    The good old days.

Such killjoys nowadays when they wont let 9 year olds who are drunk swim in the hotel pool at night eh ? Terrible ! ;)

Excellent to hear! Thanks to all the mods for doing the right thing. Here's hoping we'll see some positive changes in attitude all round out of this.

Now, what about that ZnorXman... disappearing off when there's a group hug to be had. Tch.

Aye. The Ewgf episode was just a symptom. Well done to all concerned for putting right that particular wrong.

Getting you drunk, then putting you in a barrel. Does not seem a great way to spend a childhood to me.

EWGF was banned, but foggy left the option available for other mods to un-ban him. Nobody has.

Rome wasn't torn down in a day, the mods are hard at work discussing what to do and waiting on email-replies, etc, etc.

He is unbanned. I was hoping to talk to Znoxrman but he doesnt seem to be around so had to move on without his input.

Going to talk to ewgf via pm/emails as thats the most sensible way to do it.

Sorry, was busy helping my friend move house. Am catching up with a bunch of pages herein, and merging [strike]Irvin Kershner[/strike] ...err...Leslie "Don't Call Me Shirley" Nielsen.

Just for some perspective - if you think that getting your posting privileges revoked on a web forum is too awful to contemplate - I'm having my son cremated tomorrow. There's more important things to be concerned about than the actions of a small few.

My sincere condolences to you and the family.

Look, moderating a forum effectively might be hard, but as long as the moderators of any new forum don't go banning people for asking difficult questions, they'll be doing a better job than here, and I'll be willing to give them a chance.

For me this isn't about the steady decline of the Spectrum community, or the disruptive influence of the Chit Chat forum, or anything like that. This is about one botched decision where Lee misused his moderator privileges as ammo in a personal feud with ewgf. There may have been other decisions in the past that were difficult to make - this wasn't one of them. If the moderator team continue to defend that decision then WOS's moderation system is fundamentally broken, and it's time for a change.

Don't get me wrong - I like the WOS forums on the whole.

But sometimes issues do come up that you may not agree with...

A new forum wouldn't stop people visiting both sites - for me, I'd visit both as it's only an alt-tab away after all :)
    No one important.

Dunny mate, I am so very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you and your family are going through, and I hope tomorrow goes as well as can be expected. As you say, it shows how utterly trivial most of the stuff is that we fight over. We get so little time down here, and most of us waste so much of it over stupid things of no real importance.

You and your family are in all our thoughts.

To everyone else, thanks for all your kind words in this thread and I'm glad to be back amongst friends.

All the best, especially you, Dunny.

Sorry for your loss Dunny :( Terrible news, nothing more I can say in such a horrible situation.

Welcome back ewgf mate good to see you, tried to send you an email while you were AWOL, but I've lost your address, and I guess I'd deleted the last email you sent me

Aww I'm so sorry mate. I just don't know what I can say or do to make you feel better, I wish I could. If that were me I'm not sure I could keep it together and post sanely on WOS, thats very commendable. My heart goes out to you, your family and your loss.

Yes, it does make you realise how pointless all this stupid bickering really is. When it starts, you will notice a distinct lack of posting in said theads. When I do post its only to try and lighten the mood.

You know folkes, up until the recent bickering WOS was the most awesome on-line thing I had ever experienced. I used to think to myself (whaaat a wonderfull world), no I used to think, I want to grow old with you folkes. I hoped that when I'm old grey and possibly infirm at least I could have a computer, and internet connection and all you folkes for company, laughs and inane chatter, because over the years you have been great and we have had some real laughs.

I still wish for this, but now I am less certain of this utopian dream. However, if WOS can one again come the fun, banter full, bouncy happy go lucky place it WOS, I'll be here for life.

    Raise's glass

Although I'd raise it if somebody said it was scabby pigeon day, I'm so drunk I can't even focus on the screen properly. Not to do so much with the beer but the inhalation of wood stain fumes coupled with drinking. I feel very spacey now, I'm scared to take a shower incase I fallout and drown

Dunny, I don't know you either but I was so shocked and devastated for you when I read this thread earlier :( my condolences and here's wishing for you and yours all the strength in the world for tomorrow and the coming months.

You've mentioned your son on here for a few years and we knew you'd taught him to program, I remember a pacman game you wrote together for the CGCompetition... I'm sure he was a fine boy, and that you realize that amongst the arguments that the people of this forum really do care for each other... hope I haven't said too much, we none of us ever know what to say and I'm never able to just say a line but couldn't not post :(
