I haven't seen Andrew Rollings post or even logged in on this site for months, I've been wondering how him and his family are doing but I've been terrified to ask in public, or even PM somebody who might know incase the worst had happened :(

You're quite right, they are totally separate and one should not influence the other. Unfortunately as we all know one individual decided to ignore that.
Having said that we've (hopefully) drawn a line underneath all that and moved on. We're all friends again!!

I have just spoken to Andrew and he does agree it was insensitive.
What is reprehensible about saying that a mod who has compromised his impartiality should not be a mod? Why should his personal situation have any bearing on this? Or are you saying it's ok for people to go around behaving any way they want so long as they're experiencing a personal tragedy? If I'm blunt then it's because I'm fed up of treading lightly around people who go ahead and jump to conclusions anyway. If my contribution is not wanted so be it.
Your tone voice was/is reprehensible and disgusting GIVEN his situation. Sure, you may be blunt but don't wonder why people may give you a disgusted look down the line. Your bluntness judges yourself in this case.

If i had a falling out with someone/disagreement/or they said they would go and they didnt and then their wife was very ill i would just let things go. It shows the bigger picture, this petty squabble which is STILL going on is NOTHING compared to what some people are going through.
I mean the stupid thing is Andrew hasnt been here for ages anyway so what you're moaning about is just ridiculous. Whether Andrew will continue being a mod, whether Martijn will say to him 'step down' or whatever, its just not the time to even discuss anything like this. Just not important.
I read here for another time that somebody offended somebody on Facebook, IRC channel or wherever and therefore he should be banned/shouldn't be a moderator on WOS.
Think also just use common sense and normal human behaviour. If someone is ill or has a close relation who is ill just drop any petty bickers and let it go.
When you see what Andrew and his wife are going through its quite a sad state of the times when you have to keep telling someone to show some consideration.

I think we need an explicitely stated rule, attached to form guidelines
(http://www.worldofspectrum.org/forums/showthread.php?t=11942 ) which would say something like this.
1. The only basis to ban somebody on the forums are his/her actions on the forums.
2. Bringing personal conflicts from other life areas to the forums is unacceptable.
