Regarding this title being in the archive, I'm not changing my mind (unless the police come knocking of course).
Censorship is not tolerable. Nobody is forced to see or play the game.

True, I haven't really found a good way to solve this.
Note, however, that those entries only show pictures using the infoseekid.cgi engine (i.e. when clicking a link on the sex.html page), so the regular search facilities are safe in this regard.

I meant that if you search for something (e.g. "sex") in infoseek it will return the adult games there. It also links to or displays screenshots (depending on setting) which link directly to the archive so avoid a sex section filter

Then you'd better get rid of the forum mods, because that's their job description.

Alexa would seem to disagree with that. And no, I have no relationship with them. :-)

Alexa doesn't go any deeper than top level domain.

I just realise I could add a config option in infoseekconfig to exclude adult content.
However, this has to go on the ever-growing to-do list and will therefore not likely be implemented in (at least) the next 2 years...

Not knocking Cash. I like the song, but if you listen to original gangsta rap you'll find a similar message (that crime is doesn't pay and that music is one way out of that life).

Not necessarily... Ice-T made tracks such as New Jack Hustler, Squeeze The Trigger etc. NWA took it a giant leap further. They were the first two proper gangsta rap acts, as far as I know (2 Live Crew just made tracks about sex, and Public Enemy about politics...).

    Ice-T = Cop Killer

And now he's playing a potential target of his own :-P

Once again I will repeat. Game doesn't pursue the aim someone to offend. It is shooting on the hypertrophied stereotypes of gays-zombies. If it has offended someone, write: "this game offends me" and write the reason. I am capable to constructive dialogue with representatives of this sexual orientation. To what it is so much pages of the senseless text?

Game - a shit and other insulting words. However it is experience, abstract from the maintenance. Besides it is a demoversion. It will be never completed. To leave or not game in archive, to solve WoS.

    Now about more pleasant.
At us passes competition of music and pictures. Till the end of reception of works there were 8 days. If this information is interesting, I will translate rules from Russian in a new theme.

You're saying I shouldn't point out contradictions in WoS policy, that individuals in positions of responsibility ought to be held to account, or call people out when they are being hypocritical? When did WoS become a religion that tolerates no criticism, with high priests whose conduct is not to be questioned? Sounds like censorship to me. I want no part of it.

Who will decide what not to distribute if author gives distribution permission to WOS? I hate censorship. If the game will be available for download in other places (like wikileaks), I can make my own opinion about it, to play it or not. But who the hell gives other people the right to make a decision for me? ;)

Geebus? It?s not easy is it?

Censorship is not good. Elsewhere it?s said no lines should be drawn.

    Political correctness gone mad...

So... what are we saying exactly? Where will it end?

Super nonce simulator? Someone goes out and writes a game where you've got to go out kiddy fiddling? Are we saying a game like that would have a welcome home at WOS?

It?s not political correctness we need... its common sense.

And sadly no, I don't have the answer either.

BUT if this is the road we're now going down with homebrew titles it maybe an idea to make it clear on the front page there is content inside that does promote hate crime and those under 16 should steer clear.

I don?t envy Marjin and the Mods ( heh! Good name for a band! ) dealing with this one. :(

If your intent was not offensive, why didn't you entitled it "Russians shot" or the like, in which the game is about shooting on the hypertrophied stereotypes of russian-zombies? Being Russian yourself, you will prove your intent is not offensive (as you were not offended). :p

ah, that's cause you haven't looked in the ZX Spectrum App Store!
it currently contains two games by Alarm, "RUN" and the sequel "STOP" :-P
They are exclusive to the App Store for the moment too; a good incentive to use ZX Gopher. I have a third game to upload one day: REM.

It ends when it goes against Dutch law. Pedophilia is one such example.

In this case it's just the title of a game. That is no hate speech (which would also be against Dutch law).

As always, I'll check each case as it's presented. Thinking up possible conflicts doesn't really help as they will likely never appear anyway.

boriel, no problem. It doesn't offend me. It only game. Don't confuse games and real life.
Bears, vodka, a balalaika and frosts are necessary. You will make such game?
At me in a city air temperature-30 degrees on Celsius scale.

That's the idea. But usually, "shot" (meaning kill) might not only be offensive, but also carries a hate connotation (like shotting black people, women or whatever). And some people might find it offensive, because they've been also persecuted in real life. ;)

Surely such a game should be welcome as any other game. Or do you want to tell me, games about shooting people/cops are okay, because it is a different kind of not real crime? I don't understand the problem. On PC there are some so called "Lolicon Eroge" - Dating/Sex games with minors (Little girls, kids, lolitas). Even someone develops a PC game called "Lets rape little boys": http://letsrapelittleboys.blogspot.com/ (no, I was not searching for such a game, only found a link), and no one has a problem with it except some hysteric unemployed "kidprotectors". So whats the problem if someone will port them to Speccy. If it is flagged with "Sex" or "Lolicon", nobody forces you to play them. Or do you not make the differences between "Sex with a kid [Reality]" and "A game about sex with a kid [not reality]".
To be honest, I enjoyed he Nanako-games from Mojon Twins, and I would enjoy to write something similar which has a lot of naked skin. And after you supplied a idea which was never done before on Spectrum... ;).
Kiddy fiddling is a crime, but games about it have nothing to do with reality, so they are not a problem.

Thats okay to flag them correctly as NSAW and maybe additional warning like "Lolicon" (Girls), "Shotacon" (Boys) or "Whatevercon" (Anything else: Tentacles, Beasts), and for homebrews, on the title screen. I welcome that.

there's a hugy amount of hysteria about anything to do with paedophillia. I'd like to point out that Beccy's comparison is rather flawed, in the sense that extrapolating the theme of shooting gays you arrive at a "nonce bashing" simulator. This is something people openly make jokes about since paedophiles are currently treated as sub human and no-one will defend them at all.

It's very easy to jump on a bandwagon of defending the rights of homosexuals when the laws and society agree with it. Just consider how you would treat a game where you shoot men with thick glasses and bags of sweeties. Would it recieve the same reaction I wonder.

    :p

Yeah, okay okay... it seemed to make sence in my head... I'll read out loud before I hit the post button in future.
