Well, it's only 2 full days left till christmas. All the presents have been bought and wrapped, the taxi is booked and everything is in order. All left to buy is the booze.
Hows the other wossers doing? Everything ready to go or are you leaving it all to the last minute?

Done all my Chrimbo shopping, still gotta wrap a few bits, and then I'm done. Work until midday tomorrow, then work's booze-up, then off until January. All good.

I've had all my shopping done for a while now, picked up a 30 pack of beer when I left work today, and I'm gonna pick up another one on friday morning when I leave.

Still got a few left from earlier on in the week for now, so I imagine 60 beers will keep me more than drunk from friday to monday (and that's not including any other booze that may be kicking around over those few days) :D
    Every night is curry night!

Haven't got anything yet, food or a single present or anything. Will probably do it tomorrow some time, or maybe Christmas eve.

Shopping done weeks ago. Still anxiously awaiting my 'you got funds' email from my brother who is usually good for a couple of hundred bucks.

Hell day tomorrow though. Lunch with the boss. Fake smiles abound and feigned interest in our personal lives while we have to laugh at his jokes and antidotes. Doubt I'll get off early though tomorrow, off work Fri and Mon only (and we only got monday because I made a 'mistake' and told him the federal holiday was Monday and then after he told everyone I said 'oops' no the federal holiday is friday :) haharrr sucker).

Christmas? Oh shit. It's not that time of year already is it?!?

All the presents bought wrapped and distributed ages ago - I tend to use the January sales to get the years presents when I can - except the misses. She wants a 3DS and Nintendogs so that's a whenever job.

Going to get the food for christmas lunch tomorrow so I have got to work out what I will cook today and get a main ingredients list together. Might seem a bit late but that's the normal way of doing things here if you want fresh rather than frozen stuff.

Got some booze in but the major liver damage will be in the bar, got a karaoke arranged for Christmas Day night.

Managed to get all the present shopping done...including a few choice items for myself, naturally...:D

It's only really the nieces and nephews (and Great neices and Great nephews) that I have to buy stuff for...everybody else just gets a card, and some cash if I'm feeling rich! It's been great though, as I've been buying them all old school presents, like Fuzzy Felt and those polystyrene aeroplanes...had to test some of them first too, of course....;)

Managed to meet up with a few friends the other night too for some mulled wine, nibbles and exchanging of Christmas cards, so yeah...well on the way to feeling proper Christmassy now! :)

Now the important question, who's cooking Christmas Dinner?

I am for the 4th time, and I love doing it. I have an important question to ask though:

    Best gravy ideas.

I've never nailed it. I can perfect any other kind of meats gravy. Perfect it so that the meat, veg are in perfect harmony.

Turkey, no way. I either go pussy and go for the total granules or wimp out and put a crap load of turkey juice into boiling water and throw some more granules in.

We all like big, thick, meaty gravy. Gravy that weighs down the veg and makes you proud.

you're cooking the turkey too long if loads of watery crap comes out. bung some carrots, onion, garlic, potato and celery around the turkey when roasting. strain and reduce turkey/veg juices and add butter

Best way to make the gravy is save up loads of chicken carcasses in the freezer, make an intense chicken stock and reduce. Add to turkey gravy and reduce again

I thought I'd be spending xmas alone this year, but have now been invited to my Ex's sisters for xmas and boxing day. Score ;)

Anyway, now I have just 2moro to do some xmas shopping as i'd obviously not prepared for social contact over xmas.
At least I have a keg of homebrew barley wine :D

    Me

First course is a seafood soup with shrimp dumplings.

Main course is a fillet of Nile perch with a quail in the centre surrounded by by two small fillets of beef wrapped in bacon and a couple of slices of stuffed baby pig and accompanying veggies with a side of Thai spring rolls and nann bread.

    Not decided on sweet yet.

Don't forget that any of you WOSsers can post your Xmas dinner achievements here, as a tribute to Mr Frobush:

Am going to have to cook my own this year, so have stocked up on a lot of random stuff. Hope it doesn't go badly wrong...

Santa is a little bit poor this year. Only bought 2 presents so far. Civilization 5 for PC for Paul (12 yrs old) and Call of Duty Black Ops for the Wii for Steven (also 12). Still not sure what I'm going to give to my wife... And this year I'm not giving anything to anyone else. Too much stuff going on at the moment.

I grew up being part of a Christmas that was made for the children. Adults just watched as the children opened the presents, and everybody was happy. Nowadays there's this assumption that everyone should give something to everyone else... some families want each person to name whoever's going to receive the gift and there's a lot of pictures and clapping going on... Blah.

I cook throughout the year for the entire family, but on days like Thanks Giving, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve I let others do the cooking. :)
