My pc is knackered (something to do with the c drive), but I was wondering if I could get a bootabe emulator iso and run a speccy OS off a cd (might be far fetched, but hey its worth a try). If so what are the steps to doing so.
cheers
You can try Puppy Arcade 9 Linux live cd with various emulators including spectrum.
Its very easy to use, just burn iso file and boot from your cd/dvd rom.

Sorry for hijacking your thread, but I have been interested in doing something similar for a while now.
I downloaded the ISO image, and have booted from the disc.
But I cannot locate and run the games which are included.
Can anyone offer help in this area please. Also to add further games, must they be copied to the PC HDD,or can the image be updated?
Or get old of an old IDE hard drive with a few hundred meg on, install Windows 3.1, get a DOS based emulator and write an autoexe.bat file to autoload the emulator. If you need help with that, I'll write it for you.
Failing that, install Windows 95, install an emulator, put it into the Start Up menu (it loads programs on boot) and set the emulator to work full screen. You can even replace the Windows 95 boot-up screen with a speccy related screen.

why not just run windows or linux again?
you can use a bootable cd.. but well long winded , you'd be better off booting of a HD

Requires CDROM, VGA, 486DX100 and 2MB ram.
