New Year's Resolutions

edited January 2011 in Chit chat
Any made any yet? Anyone not bothered?

Weighed myself today, I've put on about half a stone in the last 6 months but I'm not really fat so I don't think I'll bother doing anything exercise-related. There have been a lot of joggers going past my window in the last couple of days though.

I've got to get a new job this year as my current one is only temporary, so I might try to learn something new or try to get a qualification in something, whether it's something that might point me towards some sort of proper career or just something that I enjoy. The problem I have is that I'm not sure exactly what to do yet...

I usually do a list every year of things that I must do...

havent really had the time to make one this year...

I should really start doing some exercise again, I don't think I've ever been this out os shape in all my life

Exactly this topic was on today's English lesson.

My is to not let know to our renter that I smoke in this flat and stay here as long as possible, because here it is good.

I'm gonna quit smoking sometime soon, not a resolution though, it's something I've been planning on doing for a while now.
    Every night is curry night!

To break my Ebay addiction and not buy things I really don't need.

Pigdog, I'll be needing shipping to Manchester not Texas on those games I'm bidding on.

I'm gonna try and get to work on time  This was my resolution for last year too. I made it until May time before I started to be late again!

Other than that, I'm gonna try and give up the booze. I've got a works do in 2 weeks and I think I'll make that my last night on the beer!

Nope. Tried that. I have my alarm clock all the way across the room. I just turn it off, then get back into bed. Then I have an alarm on my phone. That's got a 10min snooze function. I'm the worlds worst at getting to work on time!

When I worked at Smiths back in England I bet I was worse than you, some nights I never even made it there

They still wouldn't sack you for it, I didn't get written up for being late or skipping days until about a month before I handed my notice in, and I think they only wrote me up cos' they knew I was leaving and they wanted to make an example of someone who'd been there a while in front of the young uns who also took the piss with being late and missing shifts left, right, and centre

I know what you mean - doesn't matter how many alarms are set or how many times they go off, when I'm in bed I always miss breakfast for the sake of just one more snooze. My alarm is now set on a 6 minute snooze and I still stay in bed for about 35 minutes after it goes off.

Bizarre that, I didn't think anyone else does that.
I always set mine to 15 mins fast. I know it's the wrong time, but I think it's the act of working out the correct time in the morning that gets the brain working and thus makes it easier to get up.

well my time keeping till about maybe a year ago was legendary BAD..

was funny , I went out on a date last week.. and she was 20 minutes late.. wasn't so bad, was worse she didn't even feel a way to say sorry for leaving me standing out in the cold.

i have my phone a few minutes fast. It helps when i am trying to get a train.

gettting up in the morning isn't hard because you dont wake up in plenty of time, it when you wake up five mins early and think 'oh i will just rest my eyes until i have to get up properly.' then half an hour later....

the only realy way to get out of bed with no fuss is to have something to look forward too, like christmas morning. If employers had a present waiting for you when you got into work latesness would be cut drastically.

I had this great idea for my workplace to make things better. what it would be was a lottery, so once a month they would choose an employee at random, and then go up to them and tell them they could have the next day off.

but no they'd rather give us things like ethnic diversity courses and tell us thats a way to improve things!!

Haha, I love it when a company introduces daft stuff like that.. A call centre I used to work in had a problem with sickness so introduced a 'good attendance' prize. Everyone who had worked for 6 months of the year without a sick day had their names put into a hat and a winner was drawn out for a ?100 cash prize.

One bloke had been off with a stress-related illness for almost 3 months. When he returned to work he had 6 months without taking a day off. And guess who won the next good attendance draw...? Yup.. Think the scheme was stopped shortly after that..
