    i know he always being known for baker street,which is a fantastic song,but "nightowl" and "get it right next time" where classics too.

    Very sad news. He was in folk band with Billy Connolly called the Humblebums. I bought a best of album cos i'm a huge Billy Connolly fan and fell in love with Gerry Rafferty's songs!

    This is really sad :( I have always loved his music and have all his albums. 'Baker Street' is in my top 5 songs of all time.

    Damn, I loved Bakers street - the sax and guitar on that track always reminded me of my childhood... another excellent musician bites the dust :-(

    Sad to hear of his passing. But why was that song called "Baker Streer"? The name conjures thoughts of Sherlock Holmes, but the song was nothing to do with him.

    Sounds stupid, but the song always reminds me of the A41 road. As Baker Street is at the London end, and I live near the other end of that road.

    Sorry to hear of Gerry Rafferty's death though. :(

    He wrote it whilst staying at a friend's flat on Baker Street.
