I've heard about Murder Set Pieces. Not seen it though.

I really wouldn't bother trying to track that down. It tries to be offensive and wrong, but it's just a boring film. Next to no plot and most of the "extreme torture" etc happens off screen anyway. The only part that can be called dodgy is a scene where he kills a kid in a public toilet and that's only because, ulike in most other films where a kid is involved, it's not done in a cut-a-way. But that's pretty much blood free. Mabey i've just seen too many gore movies, but it didin't sock me at all. just bore me to tears.

If you must watch it, then download it because it's a waste of money as well as time ;-)

Watch the bunman, it's not that bad most of the way through apart from a scene where he rapes a waitress who's working for him and finishes her off by ramming a fistfull of chopsticks up her fanny.

But there's a flashback scene where he slaughters the restaurant owner, and his 7 kids, the kids get murdered well nasty style and there's no cut aways or offscreen malarkey he hacks them to pieces almost with a smile on his face. I think there's one left cowering under atable he drags her out by her hair and the rest I'll leave up to you to see for yourself if you choose to?

It'll be interesting to hear what you make of it, I know you're often into similar films to me. I read some user reviews over at IMDB after seeing it, some people refer to it as "art", and "a masterpiece". How anyone can call this art is completely beyond me!?

well i aint watched it, but ive flicked extensively through it and ill tell you what i thought it was about lol, till i read the imdb thing and noticed i was wrong

it looked to me like a mans exploration through his own depravity via porn, from obviously normal sex to hacking off limbs and heads etc during (bit like nekromantik 2) the bit i was worried about when i saw the comments on the page i saw was baby sex and child sex, to me that looked quite incidental and a very small part, it looked like rape and death was the major focus.
it looks very well made, all shiny and glossy.

    in the right ball park?

Pretty much. But yeah, funnily enough, it is really well shot/edited. The bloke clearly knows how to make a film, but then totally lets himself down by making complete and utter trash like this?! Like I say, it's as if he's just tried to make the most shocking film ever made (and probably succeeded) just for notoriety's sake.

The BBFC banned a film a few years back because they said it was there purely to offend and shock people and had no other artistic merit. I tracked a copy down on E-bay and I just thought was was the most boring film I'd ever seen. Nowhere near as graphic as it was made out to be. It's called "Murder Set Pieces" if you're interested, but I wouldn't waste my time with that one ;-)
That's a shit film. I'd heard about the censorship problems. Even Blood Feast was better than that tripe.
All I've watched recently have been gore films (next on my list is Big Tits Zombie )
If you've seen and liked any of the three Chanbara films then you'll like Big Tits Zombie. There's more of a witchcraft mood to it than just the typical Japanese special powers passed through the generations. Funny, stupid and typically Japanese. In other words - excellent :D
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

The second series of "V" starts tomorrow in the States:

Diana is back from the original 80s series, playing Anna's mother.

Hmmm have to remember to tell the missus to DVR that episode, I'm at work so I'll be asleep or on my way there when it's on.

Fantasic Voyage starring Raquel Welch. The visual effects for 1966 are amazing.

After finishing Castle the other night (v. good cop series with Nathan Fillion of Firefly) and Burn Notice (like the A-Team but a million times better) I got around to Deadwood again. It's a great series, brilliantly acted and with wonderful sets but it's a bugger to get into.

After that I'm gonna finish off the last 3 seasons of 24 and then probably watch either The Wire or Breaking Bad again. Both of those are superb.

Yep , watched the first couple of episodes at a mates house as he said it was very " sopranos " , i liked it but didn't think it was that special.

I have been watching Life on Mars from a few years back , ive had the boxset on the shelf for a while , but bloody hell , its marvelous ! gonna grab the ashes to ashes sets now if its anything half as good as this.

Downloaded the Terminator films. Just finoshed watching the second one, it may be 20 years old but it's still a top film and the special effects still look amazing.

I just watched the 4th one yesterday. Not too bad but it could've been better. Near the end it got way too predictable and cliched.

Finally got around to watching Firefly. Watched Serenity first, really enjoyed it and I'm about halfway through the (only :-( ) Firefly season. I can see why it's regarded as the best TV show ever cancelled, it tops Deadwood for me. The special effects at times are movie-quality, and we're going back to what, 02/03?

Edit: Then again LOTR was 01-03, and I 've seen no CGI since that tops Gollum.

    :-)

That's just reminded me of when I saw the last HP film. One of the last scenes is of Dobby and in that bit he looked to me like a plastic doll.

Dobby didn't look too bad, Creature is the one who looks really shit.

    <pedant>Kreacher</pedant> ;-)

I agree, generally Dobby isn't bad at all, it's just that one scene in the latest movie.

Whilst I'm on about scenes in that movie, WTF was that dancing bit all about? It looked to me like Harry was trying to pull Hermione, and then they had the gall to leave out the bit where Harry explains to Ron that he loves Hermione like he would a sister.

Almost finished Firefly and I'm limiting myself to one episode per night because I simply don't want it to end :-( Best bit (of which there are so many) has to be the song in Jaynestown. Even the missus had tears rolling.

The "torture" episode wasn't pleasant viewing though.

Watching The Fellowship of the Ring, was gonna play some video games but I've been strangely drawn to it. Odd though I was just saying to the missus the other day how I'd like to watch them again some time.

Still hard to believe that it's 10 years old now, doesn't seem like 5 minutes ago that I was watching a hooky workprint of it on my mates laptop a few days before it actually hit the cinema's

Yup the one that's on the cable here must be the special edition cos' I paused it to go and have a snout and it says it's 4 hours long, could've sworn it was only 3 and a bit when it first popped up?

Could be wrong though? Been so long since I've watched the Lord of the Rings though I wouldn't even know if I was watching extra footage or not?
