Silkworm

No - not those creatures that make silk.

Anyone play or like the arcade conversion of Silkworm? Been playing it (since I was having a go at SWIV last week) and reviewed it on my site.

It's a pretty good game, although there are better shmups. Whaddaya reckon?

It's certainly not a bad conversion. I enjoy controlling both vehicles at once (with one control scheme) for the added challenge. From memory, my rzx file of it is (afaik) the only two-player rzx at the archive, and certainly the only simultaneous two-player rzx where both players were controlled by one person. :-D

Haha no, you can also do that in Wells and Fargo :)

I've downloaded the rzx to see if Rafal did the same, but from memory he didn't?

    all versions were good..

it was basically the sales curve's first outing in dev.. so it had to be..
the c64 one was great also...

one of the few games I like on amiga tbh :)

not all sales curve games I'd rate that good though, consistency wise software creations and grafgold smashed it IMHO

I like battle valley also, c64 one though music smashed it :D

Didn't really like it all that much.

Thought it was an average shoot-em-up, nothing special, always thought the screen was a bit cluttered too. Never played the original.

If you think that is cluttered, have a look at The Main Blow, an unofficial conversion.

I reviewed this a couple of years ago for The Rubber Beermat and I seem to remember that I thought it was hugely over-rated and had rubbish sound. Shame, as I'm quite fond of the arcade version.

One of those games that I'd just load up for the music. Lovely! The game itself was a bit samey-samey.

I still prefer ZX version of the game, although I've played it on NES first, and played the original and most of conversions afterwards. CPC version is nice too. Don't know why I'm prefer these simplified versions over more advanced original and better ports, maybe it is the simplicity that adds something.

Yeah. the tune is definitely the best thing about it! Still, I had loads of fun playing the game too....

In my opinion, this is one of the best Shoot em ups for the Spectrum, nice graphics, very nice action and possibility of playing 2players. A little bit repetitive in some aspects, but very nice overall product :)
