AFAIK it didn't take all the RAM, just a big bunch, but there was still some space to make a more complete game out of it. Let me check... found:

    Hi there,
I'm the coder of 4k race/4k race refueled. I come to the forums only once in a while and I always answer to messages so late, sorry for that.

Thanks for the compliments to my games. It has been a great experience making them. About memory utilization, they require a 128k machine mainly for the dual screen. It is true that there is a 32k multiplication table but it is not that essential. In fact the TS 2068 version doesn't have it at all for obvious reasons, and, excluding the 2 screens, I don't think that if uses more than 10k of RAM or so.

On the other hand, things change in life and I don't forecast having time to make a full version of the game in the future, unfortunately.

Suprised nobody has mentioned Lotus Challenge. Came late in the day, but it was definately up there with the best of them, enduro, chase, wec ect..

The spectrum proved it could do some fun and decently technical 3d racers through the years. I would sink hours into the original mansell game purely for the challenge, and when i wanted the fun, games like powerdrift and hang-on lost nothing in their translation to the small and humble.

Definately there was rubbish around that chugged like a bucket, but the fun to play at the time was certainly there with many spectrum games.

If anybody remembers that world race or something that ys(i think) gave away away as an easter gift.. that was pretty fun:)

I found Lotus quite hard to control, i think the programmers tried to make the car controls too realistic.
    The trouble with tribbles is.......
