I presume you've got a CF card, check on www.gp3x.com , i think it tells you about the folder structure the card needs and what goes where. Havent got it to hand but it is easy. Just copy over the emulators into the correct folders and bobs yer uncle.
Bit worrying why the Gp2x file directory isnt working though...
Ive just picked up a second hand GPX. Anyone know how they are supposed to work:oops:
It's a really sinple machine to use, once you've got the hang of things. The main issue with it is actually getting stuff onto the memory card. But that's only because I'm lazy and can't really be bothered to do much with it alot of the time!
A few of the emulators have proven troublesome for me though. It's taken me ages to find a Gameboy one that works for example (it's also woth pointing out that I'm using Firmware 4.0 and most users have stuck with 2.x)
Just mess about with it and have some fun! Oh and try and find a MAME frontend that actually filters out any ROMS that arn't working. I've yet to find one that works ;-)
Oh. Are the later models any better. Most games are ok but Vertical shooters are pretty much unplayable.
Which one do you have? Mine is the first one with the mini stick instead of a d-pad. That thing has taken some getting used to! It's the only issue that I have with it really. Other than that, it's a great little machine :-)
Infact, I'm going to have to dig mine out when I get home and make sure that I've got a decent version of Ghouls n' Ghosts on it (I love that game!)

That's true. The only decent software on those are emulators (and even then, only MAME and PicoDrive are actually any good).
GPH just cannot design a decent handheld gaming device. Period. They f*uck it up every time. The GP2X F200 (white version) added a pointless (and inaccurate) touchscreen, and a D-Pad that was barely usable as it was a "rocker" switch accessible by holes in the case rather than as one unit - unlike the DPad on pretty much everything else. If it weren't for the fact that distributors would have refused to stock it, the Wiz (successor to the GP2X) would have ended up with dual d-pads instead of face buttons. They really are that dumb. Now the Caanoo is out, and that not only has a true analog stick (rather than any form of D-Pad), they actually managed to cover a sizeable portion of the screen with the plastic casing.
If you want portable gaming with any sort of battery life at all, then get:
1. PSP with cfw. Slow these days, but lots of software available
2. NDS with flashcart. Worth every penny
3. Pandora. 'nuff said - the ultimate gaming handheld.
Ha ha i'm sorry ! I'm like Victor Kiam, keep going on about it all the time, sadly despite loving it so much i cant buy the company though. Steve Jobs rejected my takeover bid of ?5 and a packet of frazzles.

Yeah, that's part of the experience of owning a GP2X.

For me for a gaming handheld i would 100% say the ipod touch. Once you get used to the touch sensitive buttons its an amazing device.
Dont mean to keep praising it but its the best gaming gadget i've ever bought
Get back to the iFan thread, :p

All in all it quite a nice little device for my limited needs.
