For the .sid files, download a program called SIDPlayer.. it's quite a good program to run them on. As for the mod files, I have no idea..

A .SID file does contain actual 6510 code, so the player is indeed some sort of C-64 emulator. The code is the actual music player. The PC application only decodes and executes those instructions.

As for .MOD files, they are music files organized as patterns and channels, following the arrangement of the Amiga audio hardware. There's no code within them, so you don't need an emulator to play them. WinAMP can do it.

I recall that there is a MOD player for Sam Coup? (assuming it has some R-2R resistor DAC plugged into the printer port or something like that). SimCoup? can emulate that piece of hardware so you can load the MOD player and play MOD files (not large files) in the Sam.

you can use winamp (via a plugin) also or any number of "mod" players for the mod files..

errm look up "high voltage sid" and you'll see players also.. just don't do a "timbaland" with others work

There are loads of SID players and plugins. Also for .SID there are many hardware players using real SID chips, including the MB6582, I use ASID to demonstrate my MB6582 as its often easier than lugging a keyboard around.

On-topic, I also use WinAmp plug-ins for both MODs and SIDs. But is has to be said, SIDs sometimes do not sound too great via the plug-in. Noticed it quite badly with the SID for the demo "Edge of Disgrace", it just felt not right. So in this case, I got me the MP3 instead (which is available on pouet.net).

That would be the EDDAC / SAMDAC which SimCoupe can emulate - a dual 8bit R-2R ADC that connected via a printer interface - and with mixing channels the MOD player would play each channel at 7 bit quality.

The first SAM Coupe MOD Players just used the internal SAA1099 soundchip - with each channel playing back at 4 bit quality. But the final MOD Player would could use a whole array of sound hardware - such as the SAA1099 (4 bit), Blue Alpha Sampler (which had a single 8 bit channel so MOD channels would be at 6 bit each) up to my Quazar Surround soundcard which could play each of the four MOD channels at full 8 bit quality and in surround sound.

Actually it's three bit quality. The lowest volume bit has no effect when enveloping.
