this isn't 'something for the weekend'

(on the show they ask people to send pics of food in, but the presenters inevitably comment more on the people with the food, than the food itself)

Aye, she's a good cook and he's a big boy, growing fast, tall and skinny like his mum.

I though some of you had to see what good home cooking looks like, rather than the slightly of colour offerings I've been seeing.

Yep, they were Sainsbury's sausage rolls, quite nice. Never knew that tip about the eggs.. Hopefully they won't make me too ill anyway...

Think I need to switch to thicker chips next time, not too keen on the thin French Fries type.

scottie.. you mean home cooking that MRS Scottie made ;) .. post what you made :D

(did mrs Scottie own a commodore back in the day ? )

morkin , yer anything but mc cain oven chips I've found problematic and don't cook so great.. even in a high end expensive oven that I use some of the year (at the mo)

there asre some things I'd like to cook , but you need a few people to cook them up for . I was tempted to get a slow cooker though.

I can cook good too. I do a cracking chille con-veggimince made with stout and 86% dark chocolate. I can do corn bread. I can do various curries, toad in the whole, leak and onions in white sauce.

However, I will say my wife is an excellent cook probably better than me.

My wife did not have a Commode but does remember fondly the appleII from her primary school days. Her favourite game was Oregon Trail.

I've just eaten the largest Roast Beef sandwich you can get at Arby's with curly fries, followed by several Girlscout Cookies, about 8 mini Reeses Cups, and some caramel Ghiradelli squares, all washed down with cheap beer!

....I feel quite sick now

I haven't got a clue what anything mentioned between 'Roast beef sandwich' and 'cheap beer' is, but it sounds ok!

That looks quite good, only had some toast for breakfast and I'm at my desk getting hungry already.. The rice looks a bit like Smash, but that's probably just the focus..

I miss my local Chinese takeaway, just a small cheap outfit, but I used to love their beef with black bean sauce, I'm sure they used to spice it up a bit and it tasted great.. yum..!

I reckon you should post a YouTube clip of how you do your egg fried rice, so I can see where I'm going wrong... :p

the rice is slightly overdone , well spotted. I don't have the rice cooker here so I've been using a saucepan. my friends dad swears by the microwave now.

speaking of rice.. I love glutinous rice, the desert stuff... haven't had that in ages..

well if I did egg fried rice on camera.. i'd end up screwing it up royally...hehe ... maybe I'll do it..

but the 2 keys with it... very hot wok (standard for anything) and keep things moving.. I do break up the rice BEFORE it goes anywhere near the wok. Your supposed to use chopsticks to stir it with the rice.

I mix up the egg BEFORE it goes near the wok, I do the same with omelettes and scrambled egg..

tbh I need to get Ching-He Huang around here to help :p can you email her ? hehe

but there is a lot of stuff you might find useful at http://www.bbc.co.uk/chinesefoodmadeeasy

I have to see what meat is on at tesco (3 for ?10) in a bit.. as I try to get an ending date as late as possible as I have to freeze a fair bit of it , unless I want spag boll 1 day, chilli next , shepherds pie hehe

My canned beer of choice is Red Stripe, and for bottled stuff it's gots to be Corona (preferably with a bit of lime in the neck). I'd kill for a bottle of Estrella Galicia, but I've never seen it over here. I should be popping over to Spain to see the fam at some point this year though, so I'll drink as much of it as I possibly can before journeying back home.

Back in England I used to chug my way through a lot of Harp Irish, but I don't think you can get it there anymore? AFAIK I was happily ploughing my way through the last of it, the guy in my local booze emporium said it'd run out soon because it was getting hard to get hold of, and that was back in 2006.

Bottles Well I'm with Greencard with the Corona, it's really nice beer if it's freezing, but it's too expensive here it's almost a tenner for a 6 pack. It was 99p a bottle back home, which is pretty cheap when you're paying by the quid and not the dollar.

I also used to like the 40's of San Miguel, they were only 2 quid each and San Miguel is pretty nice beer, plus you can look gangsta if you drink a 40 out of a brown paper bag ;)

I just stick with Icehouse here in the states, it tastes alright and it gets you ****ed up quickly if need be

Today however I was in a good mood and got myself a 6 pack of Miller Chill for a change, just for while I'm sitting here. It's my day off and I get payed in a couple of days, and I still have most of last weeks pay left so I thought why the hell not? It's Lime Chilado beer, pretty good, although a Corona with a piece of actual lime rammed in the bottle is still a lot better. But like I said I'm not paying almost $10 for a 6 pack sod that! :D

Oh! I think you can get that Estrella stuff here if it's what I'm thinking of? That costs an arm and a leg as well.

Not a massive fan of Stella either, was never 100% sure if I liked the taste and it used to make my brain feel a bit mental, so I've stopped drinking it now.

Generally drink Kronenbourg 1664, but have recently started drinking Budweiser (the UK 5% one in tins). Red Stripe is OK.

I find it difficult to decide what beer to buy nowadays though, but prefer buying a load of cans... Don't really like bottled beer as it goes too quickly, although a couple of my pals have got a bit obsessive about those Desperados - they're OK, but I'm not completely convinced.

I do like bitter/ales too but for me it has to be lager with a curry every time!

I love tequila, and I love beer, but both in the same glass/bottle is a definate no-no. I've tried those a few times. Yuck!

I only drink beer with a curry if I'm in a curry house... if I'm at home it's gotta be milk with my curry.

Milk? Milk? The burn* is the fun of eating a curry!!!

    Gaylord! :p

*Note: Rumour has it that tea is actually better at soothing curry burn than milk is? Never tried it though.

I just made a batch of waffles ... don't care too much for this waffle iron though ... stupidly deep grids (I know, to catch all the gunky stuff one's supposed to glop on it) ... I just don't care for these American waffle irons :-(

It's not for the burn, I have milk with most meals at home, and I would probably drink it with a meal in a restaurant if they served it. It's one of my fave drinks.
