Sidewinda!

edited February 2011 in Games
Hi everybody,

Some of you reading the MIA forum will know that I've found a few unidentifiable tapes.
One of them is a bit knackered, unfortunately, and has "Sidewinda" written on it. We're going to have to try and recreate the data, I think, but in the meantime.. does anyone recognise this:
http://www.retroreview.com/iang/Sidewinda/Sidewinda_tune.mp3

It was at the end of the data on the tape, which would suggest the game is complete or nearly complete... but we don't have a record of a game called Sidewinda... so what is it?

Answers on a postcard, please... or preferably, in this forum.
Have you seen this game? Call now!

Ta!

Ah-ha. That music did ring a bell. A quick check of WoS revealed the game in question was distribution denied, so I couldn't check on an emulator, but, erm... a second quick check elsewhere confirmed it. That music, and therefore presumably the game on that tape, is Sidewize.

Danforth, you shall henceforth be known as "Danforth The Legendary".

    Great work. :)

I'm assuming from the music on the tape that this is a complete version, or at least a near to complete version, so I won't worry too much about restoring the cassette. I think you saved me a lot of work - thanks! :)

Happy to help! Just lucky that I recognised the tune from long ago, and was able to confirm it by way of a .z80 from a site that referred to it as a ROM, bringing shame on their ancestors :D

Anyway, glad to have saved you some effort that can be turned to other, potentially more exciting rarities...

Unless the game is titled Sidewinda, in that case it would be a rare alternative verison. Best still find out.
