Right it's been a month, and still no word?

Anybody heard anything from our pal?

If I was still living in Newcastle I'd get a bus up to Newbiggin and turn up on his doorstep to make sure he's OK, but that's not gonna happen with me living in Indiana.

I'd like to know if our pal CKay is OK? :(

Yeah, good point there. I think I saw him post elsewhere on the Wide Web tonight, so he's still around.

I'm still here ZnorXy :) Pretty much in the same state as last 6 months or so. left facebook cos was sick of whinging about my health in front of local people I actually see, I was draggin my own rep down, haha but anyways as you did ask (here we go, ed), can't hardly move, until I get my skin sorted by jumping in a cold bath (and I have to wait til' I'm not so scared as I get stabbing pains in left hand or arm, so I have to wait til it's safe) I'm in bed bandaged and trying just to sleep which is hard.... Still read posts here and my other join sites but it's only occasionally I'm well enough to be up to type more than a few words (skin on arms and legs goes hard and I either can't bend them or straighten them, it's funny in a way, you should see me try to walk at the moment, bandy leggedm and arms half bent Ozzy style old man style, lol)

Body's pretty much shut down including bowels cos of being bed ridden and those zinc bandages have given me heavy metal toxicity twice now which doesn't help (especially with shutting my bowels down :( )... really really not coping, me mams at her wits end, left leg has gone all funny, finally getting an appointment with the skin specialist on 17th March after begging them to take me into hospital for two years, keep getting infections and antibiotics don't always work - spent ten hours last week filing and poking on at one of my fingers cos of a line of poison traveling up it til I got to get it out,but anyway... that's one thing to look forward too ;)

Nearly bloomin quit drinkin' too but with the stress and fear and not being able to sleep I've been up to 3 or 4 bottles of Pulse cider a day/night just to knock myself asleep and I know that's not helping but it's only way I seem to be able to sleep :(, I seem to be on a one way mission to destroy myself even more, and can't seem to find a way out, lol, it's funny how messed up life can get, lmao :( ;)

anyway, sorry to post such a whinging pile of depressive stuff but just so you know why I'm not around, even though I am still around... didn't actually notice this post a month back 'til I checked my email, thanks for caring mate :)

Boozey :) Them charvers'll never get me again, I learnt the secret, just pretend ya one of them and merge in for 10 minutes mad laugh (haf the youngins rund here think ahm mad as fcuk anyway :D) or if thez botha scream in tha face what local hard *un* yi' knaa' that's ganna brek al' tha' jaaaz 'n the bottle it, even if thez a canny few :D

'n if yi' dee ever mek it back to Geordieland wi'l have ti' arrange a good smoke and gaming session ;)

P.S. seriously don't know what ah would do if ah didn't have WoS to read, when I've being going mad and losing the plot in the past, or whether ill and sore as fcuk this is one place I can read that (strangely enough) is sane as fcuk and full of decent people and a sense of normality (or should that be Znormality :D)...

Cal... Lurker No 1 and still loving this site :)

P.S. sorry for the whinge but this seems to be getting an even more open place for erm being open, hehe and had to post summit :)

Bloody hell Cal, didn't realise things were quite that bad.

Hope the docs sort you out sooner rather then later and we see you back here soon on a regular basis.

    Cal...

Am I the only one who is now thinking of that classic scene in The Singing Detective, with the nurse putting the cream onto Michael Gambon's character??? :D

Hope you start feeling yourself soon Mr Kay. Get into the hospital and get yourself sorted.

Oh my Cal I hope things are going to get better. I never knew you were in such a state. What happened is this a skin condition, genetic condition or did you get burnt?

I can't say that I'm feeling your pain, but consider me having said it without having any true knowledge of the actual pain you're going through.

I'm sorry you're still having health issues, I hope you get better soonish.

And RESPOND TO YER EMAIL, you!!!

CKay: I dunno exactly what you've got but I think I've got a pretty good idea what you're going through.

Myself, I've got eczema, had it since birth. It went dormant for years but flared up in 2007 and it's been going ever since. Umpteen ointments, creams, lotions for bath etc did next to zilch. It eventually spread all over my entire body and face. For quite some time I was in the house at night damn near in the noddy cos I couldn't stand anything next to my skin, not even clothes, and I'd lie awake for hours in bed, only ever getting to sleep when totally exhausted from scratching. Was already on steroids for asthma, so they couldn't give me them for eczema.

For anyone who's never had it, I can only describe it as hell on earth. People probably think an itch is nothing but I can tell you, when it's everywhere and just *will not go away* it can nearly drive you to insanity. I guess most of them on #speccy could tell you as I used to vent about it a tad :p I did get hospitalized eventually and that cleared it up, but it promptly returned soon after I got out.

If it is eczema or a related condition and you've not had UV treatment yet, ask your doctor or specialist about it. It definitely helped me. I got a course of it last year and my skin has been nowhere near as bad since then (it's not completely clear though and may never be). I also started using tea tree oil soap, although frankly I was very sceptical about it, but I think it's also making a difference. I'm not going to tell you to buy the soap though cos you could be allergic to it for all I know!

Hope you get better soon mate.

Um. I'd better stop now before ewgf gets jealous of my posting abilities...

Hey Marko :) Sorry for not replying straight away, was in a right state yesterday, couldn't reply :( Can't say I'm pleased to find out you have eczema too, although it is a comfort to know someone knows how bad it can get... I think most people have an impression of skin diseases when people have them slightly yet don't realise how all encompassing they can become when they get bad, and yeah, your description of hell on earth is pretty much spot on...

I had the UV treatment back in 1989 when I was 15 and that is what's really got me in such a state, before that I had the standard sores etc etc, and it did clear my skin up, but left me with absolutely no moisture in my skin whatsoever, spent from '89 to 95 either stuck in the house or in hospital, usually unable to walk as my legs wouldn't bend, when I came out in '95 I kept using the tubigrip bandages on torso, arms hands, legs and feet and it was like getting my life back (albeit as a mummy, haha ;) )... just having the bandages on stops the cream being rubbed off by clothes and stops a lot of bacteria from getting into the cuts, splits etc etc and it has helped loads, you may want to try this perhaps as a way of protecting the skin?

anyway, I like you have had this godawful disease since birth, never really had a break except as you say when you go into hospital and they use a tube of betnovate on you a day (including on your face which they aren't supposed to do, it's got my hands so wrinkly they're older than a 90 year olds, literally so don't want that stuff on the face)... clear you up then it's back 2 weeks later, sound familiar ;)

I was pretty much coping until last few summers and the heats just killed my skin, my eyelashes fell out last summer and I thought, hehe, that's strange, then my eyebrows fell off cos my face was always so raw, then all the hair fell off my body so I knew it was gonna get really bad... so once again I'm back where I was in 1991, more or less unable to move a lot of the time, I hope to God you never get like this, it's one thing being housebound but to be bed bound for months just sucks donkey balls, hehe, still had plenty time to watch old tv shows...

I'll check out that tea tree oil... have you heard of mannuka honey, that also is supposed to be good for the skin... anywayz Marko, here's hoping you can keep your eczema under control, and that I can get mine back under control too ;)

@ Arjun, soon as I can I'll be chasing them nurses with the Benny Hill tune on full tick ;)

@ ZnorXman, thanks mate, it means a lot to me that you checked up on me to see if I was alright, I messaged my mates a month back to say not to come visit me anymore as I felt so useless stuck in bed, so not really had any contact with anyone recently (except my angel of a mam) so it cheered my heart when I saw your email...you always are there for me, and everyone else, you're a true star mate :) and yes, I will get to reply to my emails, don't you worry ;)

    Cal...

CKay: Sorry to hear the UV treatment didn't work for you - there's more than one type of UV treatment though, I assume the doctors have discussed the other kinds with you? Also, on the subject of moisturising substances, I felt that most of the ones I was given (dermol, doublebase et al) were actually making things worse, but soft yellow paraffin and in particular 50/50 were much better, although also greasier.

If you wanna talk about it or anything, you can PM me if you want :)

Sorry to but in here, CKay, but I really feel for you. I had an acute stint of eczema one summer when I was a kid, nowhere near as bad as yours, but at the age of 10, bad enough. I got a topical benzoic acid liniment to take the edge of the symptoms (the same stuff you get for chicken pox), but then my mum put me on a high fatty fish diet (red fish and herring, etc.). The worst was over in a few weeks and all gone before school started again.

I suppose you have tried everything in the book, and many things not in any book, but I thought I should share my experience. Hope you get better soon!

Just noticed the replies to this thread (my PC is being odd and not showing me thread updates or anything on WOS, and I need to keep refreshing pages, but I digress)...

Hope it all gets a bit better for you soon, Ckay!

I get psoriasis occasionally, in patches everywhere, but it never amounts to more than a few itchy bits..Can't imagine what it must feel like to be constantly itchy all over! It would probably drive me mad...

Good to know you're still lurking about on here through it all, though....watching all us "sane, normal" people post threads about Big Plums and what we do on the toilet... :D
