Censorship alive and kicking in WoS forums
Locking threads is one thing, selectively removing posts is another. Everything posted after midnight in that 'speccy maps' thread has been removed. Wish I'd kept a copy of it now :(
Can't understand it either as most of the last posts (not just by me) were quite light-hearted iirc. I don't know what anyone else had posted since I went to sleep at 8am but I can only presume someone posted something really bad? But why remove so many posts? It hadn't gone that much off topic, as far as I remember.
I do remember someone had repeated a personal unfounded accusation against me that he'd earlier 'apologised' for, and I'd spent 20 minutes replying (quite reasonably I thought) to keep things in context.
Both this posts were removed but so were numerous other posts that had 'moved on', including my comments that I am happy for Pavero to use my maps, although I am slightly concerned about my maps being on a server alongside dis[censored]ied games on one of the sites, but that I'd worry about that later (a taboo subject, it seems, I didn't realise there was a 'blind eye policy' and that we can't openly discuss these things - total hypocrisy).
Most of the rest of the posts (as I remember) consisted of most of us asking for the topic to be locked. It had become a bit of a running joke and I wasn't surprised to see the topic was locked when I woke up today. But I didn't expect to see so many posts removed from the end of the thread, whilst everything prior to that remains unchanged.
The spirit of '1984' really does live on in here...

There was a post in one of the development forums by dalmudlee which contained nothing but a BASIC listing, and my replies as to why I wouldn't support ZX81 BASIC in BASin...
It's since been moderated away into the ether. You can still see it on a search by author though. Weird, I though - but then, I suppose that sort of post *would* be banned in those forums, yes?
D.
Well, we live. We learn.

can do, so it didn't occur here.
Assuming you mean moderation, well, what's the big deal? The actual topic had been closed and only 6 posts (including nazi references) after the last one you see were removed. I didn't realise 6 can be considered numerous by any standard, but what do I know?
I saw no reason why a thread about a (loud) complaint that was resolved should be dragged along by other people.
Your remarks about double standards because of links to a site with denied games in an appropriate topic (that very site was under discussion) are totally uncalled for.
I wonder whether you're having a bad week or something, jil, but I find your latest posts alarmingly negative and judgemental, to the point where they become offensive...
Please keep in mind that this is a public place, not a mailbox.
:) Is that a fact now?

Bear in mind if Dunny hadn't have posted the first post, I would have. We'd been discussing the matter on IRC beforehand. I think I was making a valid point. (Frankly, if I suddenly put all the 'denied' game endings up at my site, I know I'd be totally slated for it.) Well it wasn't you being called a nazi, was it? (Maybe if you'd been slandered in such an underhand way, you'd feel differently.)
Are you suggesting now that he was correct?
Did *I* call anyone a nazi?
(No, I used the word 'idiot' again in response to the person who'd called *me* 'nazi' again - perfectly fair considering the circumstances.)
Unfortunately as my detailed reply has been deleted (sorry, 'moderated'), people will never be able to make a fair judgement on that themselves - they'll just have to take your word for it (there's no chance of your posts being 'moderated' after all).
But maybe you are referring to my earlier comments in that thread?
Shame 'the moderator' also deleted some of my 'non-negative' comments on the relevant topic of maps that helped put some of my earlier comments into context too. So you've kept my 'offensive' comments (wherever they are) and removed the 'non-offensive' ones - well that's going to balance out my comments nice and fairly, isn't it? Thanks a lot.
Admittedly I do go a bit far sometimes, get a bit blunt or take things to heart too much, but selective editing of my comments doesn't help matters.
Boom *_+
That's rather like one of the henchmen of GW Bush, in attempting to explain away his government's human rights violations, claiming that it's only torture if it involves extreme pain...
misteaksmistrakesmisyaleserrurs— oh, sod it.Well ultimately it is your site to do with as you wish. Personally, I don't think the thread contained any long term useful information and if I were moderating the thing I'd have slung the whole lot in the bin rather than attempt to selectively edit it.
That choice though is yours, not anyone elses...
