    don't we all like pacman?

I was thinking of the same... maybe we must go back to the origins if we all want to agree: Pong, Asteroids, Donkey Kong, Kung Fu Master,...

    Other suggestions:

    Doom
    Warcraft
    Dune 2
    Command & Conquer
    ...

maybe you suggest some games then? ;)

You should have suggested some yourself in your first post, then we could agree or disagree. I can't remember what Speccy games you like? What I remember about you most is that you were the best contestant in the 'caption competition' thread (what happened to that thread, by the way?)

    Anyway, I'd like to add:

    Head over Heels,
    Batman 3D,
    Cobra,
    Brian Bloodaxe,
    The Great Escape,
    Trivial Pursuit,
    Elite,

    and

    Pyjamarama

    to my suggestion list.

    I hate Lemmings...

I didn't think there were lemmings about when you were a kid? Surely they were still nucleic acid swimming in chemical pools back then? ;)

Actually, I've not played the Spectrum version of Lemmings, though I loved the Atari ST version, and the add-on pack Oh No! More Lemmings, but could never get to grips with Lemmings 2 - The Tribes.

By the way, did you know that in reality Lemmings don't commit mass suicide? Aparently it's just an urban myth. It was on Q.I., and Stephen Fry said that Lemmings don't throw themselves off cliffs with the intention of dying. They just do it to get away from approaching C64 owners, and they accept the risk of death as an acceptable price for avoiding the scummy C64 fans. Sounds reasonable to me.

    I preferred Jet Set Willy.

Yes, but it's not about preference, it's just about if we like game x or not, and I bet you do like Manic Miner? As far as I can recall, I've never heard anyone say that they didn't like Miner Willy's first game.

I liked Knight Lore, and loved Sabre Wulf.

Lot's of people do, that's why I mention that I don't, as they don't fulfill Mile's criteria of games that everyone here likes, as even if everyone else likes them, I don't. Well, I don't dislike Knightlore so much, I just don't think much of it, but Sabre Wulf I detest, as it's not only (to me) so unenjoyable, but it's so far below the earlier but much better Atic Atac.

    Maybe?
    No.

    what about duke nukem 3d?

of course if you are gay you might not like it, as its more of a mans man type of game.

I love Duke Nukem 3D, like all the best games, it's just as playable now as it was when it was released.

If we're listing non-Spectrum games then Goldeneye (the N64 game, not the unrelated Wii game also called Goldeneye) might well be a winner.

If you don't like Goldeneye, then please say why.
  • edited April 2011
I never liked Goldeneye. I was already heavily into FPS games on the PC and Goldeneye was just too slow and fiddly for me.

I'm plain glad that we all agree that we all like Oblivion. Good show chaps!

Wtf! Knightlore is incredibly playable and quite fresh,so much in fact it influenced a load of 3D isometrical imitations and wannabe`s.
    Sabre Wulf-CLASSIC

Surely everyone likes Jetpac,Atic Atac,Bruce Lee,Saboteur!,Chuckie Egg and Horace Goes Skiing!

I never played Golden Eye, and I rarely have fun with a FPS... the last one I cared to finish was return to wolfenstein in 2002 or 2003

can everyone bear in mind, we are only looking for a game that everyone likes, not the best game ever.

so its kinda pointless having arguments over the merits of a certain game, once we find someone who doesn't like the game it will be stricken from the record. :p

of course feel free to berate each other for not liking obviously classic games. ;)

Games that I suggest everyone likes...
    Chaos
    Chase HQ
    R-Type
    Fantasy World Dizzy

I don't like Skool Daze or Bak 2 Skool as I don't know how to play them. That's subject to change though, if I ever figure them out.

Jetpac i found a bit boring, Atic Atac - meh, Bruce Lee a classic but so easy. Saboteur looks great and plays alright but wouldnt want to play it too much. Horace goes skiing gets dull

Chuckie Egg for me ! Classic game

    Manic Miner (Speccy)
    Head Over Heels (Speccy)
    Space Harrier (Arcade)
    R-Type (Arcade)

They might not be your favourites, but you can't not like them.

Wot about Time Pilot? Raiden II? Super Mario Galaxy? Atic Atac is great once you get an idea of the map and which floor you're on. Without that it does seem a bit random. Hysteria?

Count me out of that there group "everyone" ...
Mainly because it's a single screen affair.

I can only remember two single-screen games right now that I enjoyed, Tetris and that plumber game where you have to guide the water (and I guess Loopz on the Atari ST(and that one mainly because of the muzak)).
