There's a game listed there called Grid Runner, which sounds like the one I meant on the ST.
in fact ive just dug out the retro gamer cd i have of his stuff from 2004

Professional Mel-the-Bell Simulator................"So realistic, I found myself reaching for the Kleenex King-Size!" - Richard Darling
Changing the subject briefly and referencing some earlier posts that mentioned the game game Thief and being scared by games...
Thief 1, 2 and 3 (although 3 is too easy), are pretty much the only games that got my pulse racing with fear. I can only blame myself though as I used to play wearing headphones with the lights off. There is nothing like the feeling of crouching in a dark area with a guard just meters away and looking for you. There is one level in Thief 3, I think it might be, in an old asylum or something that is truly terrifying. I think I actually yelped with surprise when something crept up behind me.
Back on topic, I don't think we will be able to agree on any game. The answer to the thread is "no", sorry.
Are we? I guess that rules out Star Wars (arcade version) then, even though no-one's said they hate it yet! :p
No, sorry, my fault... I just thought we'd probably all be more likely to agree on a game on the Speccy, seeing as it's a place of much Specciness. But yeah, I like Star Wars. Again, not crazy about it, but I definately like it more than dislike it. :)
Erm, and Cyclone, and TLL. I've not played them a lot, but they are good.

It is very tense. Just another example of how less can be more, both in terms of action and sound (the sound is very important to the atmosphere in the Thief games). It really is bad that the Thief games don't get much more attention from gamers.

That's the old orphanage. It's very well done (there are no enemies in the first part, yet it still has more atmosphere than the whole of most games), and very disturbing. The fact that you help to save the poor girl (by freeing her ghost) makes it so poignant.
There were some great levels in Thief 3, but most Thief fans regard the game as being massively inferior to the first two, though I don't.

Have we covered homebrew games? I really like a lot of them, for example:
the three Farmer Jack games,
Game-x,
Egghead four and five,
Homebrew,
Albatrossity,
Batteries Not Included,
Banger Management,
Utter Tripe,
123 Maze (you wouldn't believe how much of my commuting time this little program has filled up),

Or Asteroids
all driving games are tbh, apart from mario kart :P
Amen to that brother!!
Absolutely not, I'd have smashed my disc of it for my Saturn, but I figured one day I may flog it for 3p to an idiot?
I bet that back in 1991, we all loved it!
hell no
Bruce Lee?
Bytes:Chuntey - Spectrum tech blog.
It's a good game. There are many better, but I certainly don't hate it.
I found Jet Pac a bit boring, since I had already played other better games before it, and don't even bring up Jetman - hated that game.
Joking surely?
Does anyone hate Deflektor or TLL?
I don't hate them I suppose, but I'm defo's not keen on either of em' either.
OK well, you don't really like them then. Next sugestion please. :D
Well i never that was unexpected!
Tis and was and always will be a classic. Well to me anyway.
"easy left maybe"
I always thought it sounded more like "cheesy cleft" imagine the extended humour when the navvy would say "very long easy left....maybe?" :D
Yep, I like Bruce Lee.
Are we sticking with Speccy games now then?
If so, please can this thread be moved to 'games' and then switched around accordingly if we switch to other formats.. :-P
...Talking of other formats, any immediate nay-sayers to my Monkey Island or Deadpan's Bishi Bashi (PS1)?
I've never even heard of Bishi Bashi, but I loved Monkey Island (all of them). Someone here will say it's crap though, no doubt... :p

Weeeeeell ... from me, no. But I prefered TLL ....
And if you had posted TLL, I probably would have said that I preferred Cyclone.

How's about Guitar Hero?
