So, they let a complete stranger, a man, look after their boy for the day?

heh - that's now seems more far fetched than the whole alien from another planet part of the story.

I've not see the remake, but the original is one of the all-time classic science-fiction films.

anyone rember back in the 80s BBC 2 had a vintage sci-fi film on early evening once a week for a year!!

I was lucky enough to have a telly, and be old enough to stay up and watch them.

Few years later they did the same with cowboy films.

Some of the sci-fi films I saw again on mystery science theatre 3000 or whatever it is called.

I 'liked' the remake... apart from the blimmin awful Gort. How big?! That's just not right. The nanites were an awful addition too. Tsk.

Keanu was a great Klaatu though, and talking to the other alien in the cafe was very good. But it could have been much, much better.

    Ya can't beat the original.

keanu could've been the robot. a wooden robot of doom.

I thought I was the only person who remembered watching these. I've mentioned it to people over the years but it seemed that there was only ever me who watched. Cheers for confirming that I didn't make it up.
