You honestly dont laugh one bit when you watch any episodes of the Office?

I find neither version to be funny.

But some parts of Extras got a chuckle out of me but overall I have to admit I do somewhat loathe Gervais(' type of humour).

    Simple examples like
"Don't do this" and then they do it.
"I hate people who fart" and then someone farts loudly.
"When someone makes a remark about my hair, they get pinched"
wait 2 seconds: Someone comes in and says "What have you done to your hair?"
    etc. etc. etc. etc.

    Not funny!

I find this to be also true of Gervais' humour, though he goes about a slightly subtler route to get there.

In Extras he goes to his manager who usually has these great promises which obviously are bogus or eventually turn up to be exactly the opposite of what was initially promised.

Oh, wait ... you were talking about US comedies ... well, anywho British comedies do the same thing, though not in an as obvious manner.

    Father Ted.

Father purcell- I was with the AA there, very expensive, in fact I had to crash the car just to get the money back. And then there were eye witnesses saying they saw me steer the car into a wall, there was talk of me going to jail for a while there.

I have to be a dissenter on BlackAdder and Red Dwarf, I like *all* 4 series of Blackadder and *all* of the Red Dwarves (although I've not seen the ones made very recently).

To the growing list I add:

    * One foot in the grave
    * Mrs Brown's Boys
    * The Red Green Show (a Canadian TV programme, which is unknown in Britain but was aired on PBS in the United States, I used to watch it when I lived in Houston - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Green_Show )

The first few series of "Keeping up appearances". I think that one went on far too long, they should have made fewer series.

The first two series of "Chef"

I'm surprised not to see "Seinfield" mentioned. I don't expect it to meet with universal approval though which seems to be the criteria here.

So in line with that, I nominate "The Good Life" which I was under the impression everybody liked.

Winston Red / Green was shown in the UK briefly on BBC 2 late night...
but only reason I remember it was , I re-saw an episode when I was in Cananda

Mrs Brown Boys, the guy who made/is mrs brown.. also appeared in Max and Paddy hit the road as the dodgy gypo who flogs them a flat screen telly. there is also a live show version (it's available on dvd as someone bought my sis it) of it as well as the tv show.

can't put it in the same league as father ted though..

another show we don't see here that a german friend raves about is trailerpark boys, a US show.

but then again he kept asking me about life on mars.hehe

Oooh, that's a pretty funny one.

That's the one with the guy who shows up at the delivery company without actually being employed, right?

Yup used to watch it in the mornings when I got in from work probably about 3 years before I moved here. I think it was on before then as well, they were pretty up to date with the US at one time. If I remember rightly it used to be on at about 8:30am right after Everybody Loves Raymond, which was quite popular back home as well.

What's the name of that show with Ben Stiller's dad, where he lives in the basement and is always annoying the family he lives with ... that one also had its moments.

And what was the name of that show where the parents had kids very young and now they're in their 30s or whatever and can't always control their teenagers because they are just as bad. The dad's brother is a lazy bum but usually has funny ideas on how to cover up their problems. I think the show is usually shown out of synch, that is it starts with the problem being over and then everyone tells their side of the sequence of events. The father is a husky, redbearded guy who now seems to be in a show about a motorcycle gang.
Errrrr ... what's the name of that show?

Erm the Ben Stillers dad thing WAS King of Queens Normski? Unless you're taking the piss there?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the second show you're on about may be "Grounded for Life"? Took me a while to remember the name? Asked Mr's Boozy and she didn't have a clue what I was on about.

Think that used to be another show that was on back home in Engy-Land that I used to watch in the morning after I got in from work?

Yup, just checked that name and you got it right. Remember liking that one somewhat, mainly because of how the story was disjointed but then they fill in the gaps in a humourous way.
