R.I.P Elisabeth 'Lis' Sladen

edited April 2011 in Chit chat
That's a damned shame. They should (and I think almost definitely will) have some sort of message of tribute with the first episode of WH.

RIP Liz, you were one of the best companions. :(

    R.I.P Liz/Sarah

She was a great actress in her field and my sympathy is with her family, friends and admirers.

Several generations will sorely miss her.

    RIP :(

The Sarah Jane Adventures are probably the most watchable kids dramas in years....Up until the last series of Doctor Who, I actually enjoyed them more...they seemed more like how I remembered Dr.Who...

This is absolutely awful news. Very sad indeed. As soon as I saw the thread title I was numb. An amazing actress and a huge slice of Doctor Who mythos, lost.

    RIP.

A very sad loss. Was gutted when I heard this on the news this morning.

Got to admit I had a bit of a crush on her, (and she still looked fantastic at 63!)

    RIP Elisabeth.

Scary to read about her age when my parents are older, shows that anything could happen at any time. Makes you think.
  • edited April 2011
Very sad, Sarah Jane was a great character and I loved how she got her chance to carry on - both in the new Who and the spin-off series.

Better known as Sarah-Jane Smith from the whoniverse. Died aged 63 of cancer. A sad loss to British stage and screen.
  • edited April 2011
Indeed, she was one of my favourite companions, and got even better in later years. She really could act the emotions her character was feeling. She will be sadly missed by all who watched her.

She was signed up to do a series of audio adventures with Tom and it would've been great to hear them back together as the Doctor and Sarah. She seems like the only companion who could ever control him and who he actually really, genuinely liked and respected.

    RIP :(

(Any way we can get the actual RIP messages from the other thread added to this one please, mods? Or would you have to merge the whole thread?)

    Done.
I wanna tell you a story 'bout a woman I know...

Very sad news, as everyone's said already. A really talented actress and always seemed to be a very warm, caring person.

Sort of but, not quite. Big Finish have commissioned 4th Doctor stories with Louise Jameson (Leela) and Mary Tamm (Romana I) but were hoping to persuade Liz Sladen to come on board at a later date.

Their 3 April podcasts have Tom Baker with the BF team at

Indeed. Last month it was Michael Gough and in January it was Nicholas Courtney.

Oh, so this is where people are hiding now that the other thread has been closed.

People need to get a life and realise that stuff posted on the net doesn't affect real life. If you don't have a sense of humour then don't play on the net. It's like saying "ooooo, I don't like what you are saying so I must shout about it and argue!"

FFS, a person died,,, it's done... DEAL WITH IT! Don't bloody argue about it and waste bandwith complaining... It's not the end of the world (yet - Ed).

She died, yes I do remember her (once I saw her pic from a loooong time ago, I never knew her name), yes the big C is bad (I had sister die of it even after the docs said she would be fine), but unfortunately **** happens.. Grow some and deal with it..

    Simples..
    So far, so meh :)

Yes, very sad to hear this. Like most others, I had no clue she was even ill!

I haven't really seen much of the newer stuff, but she was in Doctor Who during some of my favourite stories, with Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker.

I particularly like the ones where Ian Marter as Harry Sullivan appeared too. He happened died tragically young.

Very sad about Elisabeth Sladen though, she was one of the better companions. :(

To anyone who thinks I was being disrespectful, I wasn't. I was just saying what I thought, which is what these forums and threads are for. I've been there/done that (personally), and it's all just life. Bad life sometimes but unfortunately that's the way life works... And I just deal with it...

Anyway, as I said, she was a great actor (back then), never saw her recently (mainly cos SJA was a kid's programme), all good actors/actresses (for the PC load of you, :P) are a loss.
    So far, so meh :)

    *sigh*

It really is time to find another venue, isn't it?

    Or even create one.

    Hmmm.

Is it? Isn't forums all about how we feel/think? Anyway, thanks for getting involved and talking about a way to run off elsewhere. This is about talking about (rep32x) stuff that most people wouldn't talk about.

I said my piece, you say your's and then we can all be friends, :)

/me waits for Znorx to pipe in, heheh
