A mate approached us, said he wanted to write and game and had some good ideas, so we put a contract together and he started work. Sadly, he put more energy into banging the pretty female graphic artist he'd hired and the game fell by the wayside.

I'm not sure however if you would like to quote this explanation Martijn

The explanation not being there already should be noted as a sign... :-P

How about using this quote instead:

"A mate approached us, said he wanted to write [a] game and had some good ideas, so we put a contract together and he started work. Sadly, [due to unforeseen circumstances] the game fell by the wayside."

But that's just me thinking out loud and following the initial train of thought of the OPs.

The original quote was better, more accurate and with a far greater level of detail...
I wanna tell you a story 'bout a woman I know...

Where is the fun in that?

(Note to self: Am almost out of earlobe depilatory cream.)

I'm thinking more for the rest of us rather than you...

I know exactly what you mean! There's barely enough space for me and my thoughts inside my earwax-infested cranium. The rest of you wouldn't probably fit in there ... well, maybe GreenCard, he's a lithe and petite fellow. But then he would have to telecommute to work I guess, and that's no fun when your only option is dial-up.

I do hope he brings a spade though ... he might be able to make a small fortune selling the wax for torch-oil.
