Retro gamer 89

Despite the c64 on the cover there's some good Speccy stuff...

News article on the Elite Speccy app
Making of Starquake - 8 pages including a map
Interview with Raffaele Cecco
Gimme Bright gets a retro review
Even our very own Zeropolis gets a small mention with a screenshot of his upcoming adventure game

Theres a few people who's backs up about the coverage for the 3DS, cant blame em, not exactly "retro"

yeh suppose, but there again you could say the style of some of the 2d games are 'retro' looking like some of the snes classics

Really? Any chance of a scan please?

It was just going to be a small unofficial public domain game.. here's hoping this mention doesn't bring too much unwanted attention from Lucasfilm.

Sorry don't have a scanner. Should be in WHSmiths next week
  • edited April 2011

The point is, there are a lot of familiar franchises that are retro appearing on 3DS - Pilotwings Resort will appeal to retro gamers, Rayman 3D is a port of an old Jaguar game, Kid Icarus is returning after more than 20 years, and so on
Surprised they didn't ask me any questions about it..

Well, it was in the homebrew piece, so it was probably TMR that wrote it

Who is TMR? I've only read a couple of the early Retro Gamers.

Maybe a letter for the letters page is in order..

I don't think that's entirely likely. At least they haven't been knocking on my door about acquiring the film rights to Utter Tripe yet. Maybe they bought the rights to Farmer Jack instead, and Bob Smith is in Hollywood as we speak giving them a hand with the screenplay...

My god, I totally want to see that film now. Or at the very least, the trailer.

(establishing shot of the earth. Pull back to reveal a cluster of asteroids plummeting towards it. Zoom in on it to reveal the word 'BACON' marked on it.)

Deep voiceover: IN A WORLD WHERE THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL...

(cut to a busy street scene. We hear a woman's scream: )

Woman: Aaa! He's rolled out into the road!

(Whip pan to a speeding pram)

    Bruce Willis: Don't panic, ma'am!

(He dashes after the pram, clutching a keyboard)

Deep voiceover: ...ONE MAN HOLDS THE KEY. BOARD.

(Cut to the bow of a battleship. A panicked officer bursts out of a door.)

Officer: Captain! There's a missile heading straight for us! And... (looks into camera) ...it's got our name on it!

...You get the idea. I haven't figured out where the monkeys and bananas fit into the plot yet.

Nahh, far too classy a game for Hollywood, I'm picturing something arthouse with subtitles
